Most puzzles will be solved by just by gaining all the technologies and then moving villagers around and dropping them on stuff. Others are solved just by waiting long enough.

There is one puzzle, however, that requires you to do something unusual. Unfortunately, it's almost a Catch-22 situation in that you pretty much need to know the goal before you can do the right stuff to get there.
