I'm dying of starvation and i'm wondering how long it takes for a crop to mature.

I think it depends upon difficulty level and game speed. I've seen it take several hours, and I've also seen the crops appear within an hour or two.

I am playing on hard (I like a challenge) and my first crops appeared after only a few minutes. That is the quickest ever for me, and hasn't happened like that since....in other words, I can't really help, sorry. I think it may just be luck of the draw.

All I can suggest, is put all the resources you can on getting the crops going

That would be my suggestion too - get as many villagers as you can working on planting, watering, harvesting, and your food should jump back up again. It'll just take longer the less people you have working it and research, for the most part, can wait

I'm just going to play around with that theory, as playing on hard is reallly hard, and I am left with only 2 female adults at the moment, and 5 kids. I am in a dilemma in that I need food to survive, but without those tech points and kids, I can't exist!!

That IS a dilemma!! I'm playing on low difficulty as I wanted to get an idea how to play and all the fun stuff available before I went and tried the harder levels. Still, if they don't have food to eat they'll die no matter what - without tech points you might be stuck until the kids are older but they PROBABLY won't DIE - I'd go with food as much as possible - good luck!!

I normally play on Medium, and after getting through the hump, the do I feed them, breed them or let them research... things usually start flowing quite nicely

I have learnt a lot from previous mistakes, so I recommend people don't get discouraged if things don't work the first time....and it's much more fun having to work things out yourself!!

Agreed!! That's why I'm working on low right now I figure I can work on low, get a hang of things, then bump it up - or better yet play a game at each difficulty level!! Yes, I am insane

Rebecca, I wouldn't call that insane at all....maybe I am insane for not trying low first.....it certainly has caused many restarts of my games

I went back to check my Plant Tycoon- I haven't played it for months, and had 1000 year old plants. I can obviously only handle one at a time!

I don't do this all the time but wanted to try it. Other than the first Village, I'm doing the rest in real time. I've always kind of cheated and skipped the clock ahead. But that seems kind of wrong so I am doing it right now. Not much happening on my first village. I seem to be stuck. I have level 3 on all but can't figure out how to move on.

How many puzzles have you completed?

This is my first post. I'm a total n00b at this game (funny when I've been playing fish and plant tycoon for a while) I have a total of 7 villagers, (two children age 6-7) and I just ran out of food as they started their farm..I have it on fast mode, but easy setting, my five adults are all "watering" crops..is there something else they need to do after planting and watering crops to make them grow? did I miss something?..anyone know when I can expect to see crops?
Also, how do I move the big boulder by the (mediciney) catus plant?

If you keep watering the crops, they will grow. Can't tell you exactly how fast, but they will. The boulder on the other hand won't happen for a LONG time.. Just hang in there!

Just let them keep watering. Hopefully they will begin to harvest before thay get too weak.

The boulder is something you won't need to worry about for a while. Some of the other threads have detailed information about the boulder(spoilers!) if that's what you really want....

Thanks..Nah, I don't want to know yet..I like trying to figure things out on my own! I'm just concerned because my villagers are now out of food, (though all have nearly full health bars, and are healthy)and we are all waiting for crops..the villagers won't die soon, will they? I'm kinda attached to them. Also, how does one tell when they are hungry? I think they feed themselves whenever I turn my pam off; and sometimes they'll quit whatever they are doing and go foraging..but, are you supposed to drag them over to the table? (that's what I've been doing!)
how do you catch crabs? that would help feed them, i'm sure.. Probably another (expensive..sigh) tech upgrade, right?

Yes, unlike FT, the villages will feed themselves as long as you have seen to it that there is enough food in the bin.

The table to the north of where the crops are grown is VERY important in the game, but the smaller table with the single bowl of berries is simply where they go to eat.

As far as the pictures, just go to your "My Home" page and change your preferences regarding avatars under the Personal Information option in Main Config...Whew!(Long sentence )

First, the picture answer - when you are editing your profile (My Home, edit personal information), look toward the bottom of the page and you'll see various options for an avatar. You can choose one of the stock ones, upload one, or link to one. If you need more help, just send me a PM!

The crabs come later in the game when the farmers learn new ways to get food. The villagers also feed themselves; you don't have to do that to keep them healthy.

You're playing all three "Tycoon" games at the same time? Me, too! I do not own more than one device, so I have all three games going on one device, and periodically check up on them all..it's a handful, but nobody/nothing's died or been neglected, yet! I'm having a blast, though ..when waiting for "research" or baby fish to grow up, I just check my village, or sell/plant/water a plant! then, back to the other..I pause everything at night or when I go to bed, tho..not taking any chances!

Thanks for all the help, everyone! My villagers were all starting to get hungry, so I kept having them water/plant..it took about two hours on "fast" mode and "easy" setting, and everyone is now recovering from their near starvation whew! close call! I was afraid I'd have to restart, and I haven't had to yet! Still playing the same game I got nearly 24 hours ago..
Also, thank you for the information on ..avatars..right? I will try to go and make one for myself! Wish me luck!

Writer, this game needs a lot of patience. I am down to my last adult in hard mode, and she is struggling to keep up the food to all teh children. She was so weak that her red bar was empty, but I kept working her, and now, there is a sliver of red again...so I have hope that I can nurse her through until the kids are old enough to work!!

As far as the avatars go, I didn't like any that I had on my computer, so searched the internet for free gif's and avatars. I saw thet you can also make your own, but I couldn't be bothered
