Some of the little children have grown up and I've put them to work. Excellent. Aslo, it seems that I've gotten some high enough tech levels to start working on some of the "puzzles" (at least I think it's a puzzle) found on the island! Two of my villagers are able to work on clearing the blockage by the stream.

The only issue is that they don't seem to continue the work autonomously - I have to keep making them go back up there. Now, my food is a little low but I have 2 villagers working away on my field so it's not like more food isn't coming. Do you have to keep making them go up there to work or will they do it while I'm away? I can't wait for the event when the blockage is cleared - a whole new stage of my Village Sim life will begin!!

I'm such a nerd

I recommend registering and having the full version for the full Village Sim experience. You can only get so far in the trial version. I'm sure it'll be more challenging and fun if you register. I know I love it!

I don't know I registered right away because I knew I'd love it. From talk on the boards though you can only get so high in tech levels and don't have access to certain puzzles. If the un-registered version of VS is anything like LDW's tycoon games I'm sure it's telling you that you need to register to access certain things. Even if not, you can only get so far. So if you're enjoying it and want to "beat it", then you need to register.

Rebecca, your villagers will work on the creek on their own initiative, but low food levels can interfere with their motivation. Also, if they are very experienced in a skill other than building, they will prefer to do what they are good at, rather than clearing the creek. Once they have enough skill at building (and it helps to check that as their preferred skill), they will keep at the task more faithfully.

Thanks I figured it was the construction skill that was making them want to clear because my "pure scientist" (I haven't had them do anything else but research) types wouldn't touch the creek with a 10 foot pole! Hehe. I have two with high construction skill from building huts that are on a break and were researching/collecting food as I get more tech points. Hopefully they'll start un-blocking on their own once I get the food back up.

So much to do for these little villagers - so little time!!

Marcopolo, registering gives you access to buying the tech levls after the initial harvesting. You will also be able to to have more than 7 people in your village. There also aren't many puzzles that can be solved without the extra people and techs

OH HO HO, you are preaching to the choir. My pure scientists will do nothing but research and clean their white athletic socks in my pure water lagoon - and, of course, eat from the Barry White bush in an effort to increase their sexiness and thereby eventually breed other white-sock-wearing child scientists. They are just impossible! As a result of their all around latency, they are suffering expanded waist-lines, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol - which they blame entirely on the large amounts of sodium rich crab/shellfish in their diet.

In a moment of frustration, I yelled at them, "Would it kill you to build a hut or bury a body?!" One of the male scientists then walked over to a hut and started to build...and *poof!*, he disappeared. Another went to bury a body and *POOF!*, she disappeared as well!

Now they've formed a union and it's all I can do to keep them from all taking their vacation time during the same week.

Tibby -

I've read a couple of your posts and these little "stories" about your villagers are hilarious!!

I'm personally becoming increasingly annoyed with my healers on the island. They think their highly specialized career alievates their responsibility to contribute in other areas of the island. While no one is sick to heal they lounge about, taking leisurely swims, relaxing by the trees, playing in the field!! How dare they! There are fish to be de-boned and research to be done but they refuse to dirty their physician hands!! Leeches!!

You tell 'em Rebecca. So may of us have tried to control those healers, but they seem to have a mind of their own!!

Why, thank you. If your villagers would like to go on a field trip, load up the barrel and come on over.

Oh, and bring some children. We're out of Nikes.

These are indeed funny stories. I'm enjoying them, too. These little people certainly grow on ya, don't they?!

Earlier today I had a young teenager who continued to want to relax unless I kept a close eye on him and made him get back to work. I've chuckled to myself that it's those teenage years. ;-)

He's now just turned 16 and has graduated to being an adept builder. The little kids certainly come around him a lot to watch him rebuild the ruins, too. He works a little better on his own now, but I still catch him eating all the time and hanging out over at the eating area... typical teenager! ;-)

Earlier in the game I had two women having all the babies, but they both wanted to breed with the same man. He didn't seem to mind a bit. ;-) I wondered if they knew about each other, but they all got along just fine. The two women were often pregnant at the same time and hung out together caring for their babies. One big happy family, that's for sure!

I have a villager like that--ugly UGLY dude, I'll call him "Ron Jeremy", but he's a babe magnet.
No one wants the poor Doctor I call Kovach. If I drag someone new to him, she embraces K, then runs off to find Ron Jeremy.

The last guy every woman wanted died. They wore him out.

I made the mistake of sharing this little ditty with my villagers and now all of the...shall we say, 'less than foxy' male villagers are now aspiring to a career in the porn industry. I calmly explained that a Ron Jeremy comes along in a society once in a million years. Then, wouldn't you know it, Kissa gave birth to Papu - the "golden child" and he was instantly proclaimed the village's own Ron Jeremy for reasons I feel ill at ease to discuss. And there I sat with egg on my face as the women began lining up for this little man to reach age 18 so he could breed.

I sense my female villagers are in for some disappointing news.

In some good news, I've decreed a new statutory rape law.

I found that my builder villagers kept going to clean up debris on the beach every time I sent them to clear the creek. So I let them finish the beach. Now that the beach is clear, they will happily work on the creek.

What is it about this island that causes 14 year old dudes to already have full beards? When I was 14 I took forever to get past peach fuzz. Maybe it's the 60 year old ladies embracing everyone to try and make babies. It's fun to freak out the young guys and watch them run away.
Alas, to be a teenager again. I just want to tell those guys that years from now when they are in their 40's (tomorrow to you and me) they will crave the affections of a mature loving lady and they will have to struggle for it.
I'll tell you something else. I have to keep checking the ID's of the young girls wandering around. Once in a while I send a virile stud over to grab one and she's only 16! We get arrested for that here. I don't know what the island courts would do to the molesters. Maybe dump them in the water. They have to come up with a fish or they are sentenced to a few months picking flowers for the graves and watching everyone else dancing and having fun.
The problem is the policing and discipline is quite lax. If I'm not watching them all the time they wander off and stare at the stupid cactus or something. Hasn't anyone seen a cactus before?! Nothing to see here folks. Get back to work!
Has anyone else seen the Golden Tyke spewing flowers and butterflies and pretty colours once in a while? It's quite colourful and brightens the scene but doesn't that border on possessed? I'm trying to keep the other kids away in case it spreads. The last thing I want is someone growing up and suddenly coughing up butterflies when they are inside supposed to be making babies. That could be quite scarring for the partner and send them into celibacy.

That's my thought for now. I have to go and restart my game since I didn't have a _____ (edited by me, in case of spoilage) to finish the last puzzle.

Tim
