The Gong just took all my food!!!! I have over 70 people and the Gong took all my food!!! I had more than 600,000 or 700,000 units of food and they are all gone!!! I can't believe it. I don't know if I will ever be able to regain enough food for my tribe to survive.
What other effects can the gong have? I especially want to know about other possible negative effects it can have.

If you have 70 people and you put all the able-bodied ones to fish and farm, you should build back up enough food easily. I'll message you about the other effects so as not to spoil this thread

Thanks I appreciate it. I figured that there could be negative effects from the Gong and that some food could be lost, but I didn't think it would take everything from me. It totally caught me off guard.

That sucks!! I hope that doesn't happen to me. Now that my food source is starting to get back up there I am struggling to bring my population back up.

get on your nerves if this happens. I had a ilsand event that made me loose all my 500,000 food except for 1000 of them. Then i got up to just over 1 million food and that's when the gong effected made me loose it all!!!!

See Do you ring the gong every day?
I was worried at first, but I put all my villagers on Farming and got it back rather quickly.

Gong struck someone dead! The villager that struck it became instant skeleton. "Gong takes life".

Does the villager just die there on the spot?

well, when I had gong takes health, a few villagers died, and when it happened to me, they were in the place where the skellys always are. You know how, some villagers don't observe the gong, it was one of those that died.

I had that happen to me too and it kind of ticked me off. Not to mention that it suprised me. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to ring the gong because more often than not it turns out to be a negative outcome and when it does do something like "Gong grants food" it doesn't give very much. I wonder if I don't ring it for a few days if that will have an effect on it does?

At first I rang the gong everyday - now it can go two or three days before I will ring it again and I have not noticed a change in the good or bad that it gives. It is still about 50 -50. I have had more trouble with the island events taking my food. In the past three days I have lost my food twice to two different events. made me mad \:\(

I'm wondering if it depends on who is ringing the gong as to what it does?
I have rung mine 4 times now using a farmer and each time it gave food.
hmmmmmm

I think that's just a coincidence. Most of my gong-ringers have been farmers, but I've not seen giving (or taking) of food happen more frequently than any other outcome. I think the consensus of opinion here is that the events are random.

When I first played the game my first four Elders all got the same totem, so I thought there was only one design. I was quite surprised to get a different totem with my fifth Elder. I think most people agree that the allocation of totems is also random.

Yes i belive the totems are random. A lot of my totems are just 2 different designs but i do have some off each design.

I rang the gong today and it said Grants youth but nothing changed. No one got younger - very disappointed. I read about other experiences and thought it would be fun to have someone get young again \:\(

Jax wjen you rang the gong it can add food to crops and coconut tress and not just the food bin. Did you get any more coconuts or did ya crops restore themselves by any chance?
