So far I have about 45 villagers, and not too long ago, some of them started dying. I have to admit, it was kind of sad to see the "patriarch" and "matriarch" of the village die, especially when the man could have lived a bit longer if I had upgraded the hospital sooner. At least he was an esteemed elder.

Another thing that was sad for me was that one of my original children loved to run, and up until she hit the "elderly" mark, she would run everywhere. I would put her on tasks like building new huts and stuff because I knew she would work faster than anyone else. Once she hit elderly, she started walking just as slow as the other elderly people. That was depressing. Plus her hair and stuff reminded me of my daughter. It would have been nice instead of making her walk slowly, to just make her walk regular speed since she loved to run all the time.

I'm sure i'm not the only one who gets a bit sad when their villagers die?

I think we all have feelings for some of our villagers especially the ones that started the village.

I think we all do. They are many characters that just touch your heart and you think of them from time to time. I remember Hamiltion, called Hammie from the movie "Over the Hedge." My Hammie was the happiest little village you had ever seem. Even as a little tot, always dancing and jumping. Even when he was 78, he would still break out dancing. I'm glad I'd learn to take pictures of them. I have one of Hammie airborne \:\) I believe that is part of the charm of the game; they become real to us.

I'm only emotionally attached to one type of villager and I'm embarrassed to admit why.....but y'all are strangers and this is an anonymous forum, so what the heck. One of the villagers looks like a guy I have a crush on in real life. Whenever I get one of them, I name him after the guy, make him a master parent (and an esteemed elder whenever possible), and hope that future generations produce the same type of villager. I get sad when his hair turns grey and even sadder when he dies.

That little confession may make it seem like I'm 16 years old, but I'm actually nearly twice that!

I hate it when I have a child die. If I have the unfortunate event of a child death, I start the game over. I just cannot stand to have a grave with "age 7" or something like that on it! It hurts my heart. (I am a mom of a 10 month old, 4 year old, and 6 year old, maybe that's why)

Is there a way to "save" individual villagers if you need to start over? I heard someone comment on this on another board, and I nearly leaped out of my chair for joy. I'm so attached to my village doctor that I actually drew a picture of him.

When you start over, the game will create an entirely new and random set of villagers. There is no facility in the game to retain one or more villagers and transfer them to the new game.

I am glad to know I'm not the only one who can get attached! haha. On a couple of tribes I made the mistake of naming villagers after family members in age order. It was awful when they started aging and dying.

Now I just pick random names to keep an objective approach..haha.
