I have found myself with a tribe that currently only has two women!

Of those two, only one ever gets pregnant - the other goes indoors willingly enough, but never gets pregnant. And the one who has children only ever has boys!

She's now 48, and just started nursing what I assume will be her last child. (Women can't get pregnant once they turn 50, right?)

If this last child is also a boy, have I any chance of finishing the game with this tribe?

I have level 1 of Culture, and level 2 of everything else. But I suspect it will take longer to get the rest of the needed tech points than my villagers will have left in their collective lives.

Of course I'll keep trying, maybe one of the current teen boys will have better luck with the other woman in a few years...

Anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I can do?

there are events that could help

but probably your best hope is that the other woman will bear children keep trying with the ones you have noe, and when boys hit 18, try with them

also, you do know they don't have to get all the way indoors right?

just for clarification, how old is she?

I found another thread that lists some events that might come and save my tribe. Whew! So all is not auomatically lost, even if the last nursing child is also a boy.

The woman who doesn't have kids is 32. Plenty of time to keep trying with her, but since she hasn't gotten pregnant in 14 years, I'm thinking it's pretty hopeless. But I've set her and a couple men to prefer "Parenting", so maybe I'll check on them one morning and be surprised.

Thanks for the encouragement.

There are are a few events that could occur that would give you another female; one of childbearing age, another a baby or two.

As long as you have atleast one villagere that isn't elderly, you still have a pretty good chance of putting the tribe through
.

Yeah, I had that problem just a while ago. I only had one woman and all she would do is give birth to boys. She finally had a girl right before she turned 50. So the village ended up with some really skewed demographics... there were 6 old men, Lapita (the woman, who was 50), a gazillion teenage boys, and a 2-year-old girl. (Lapita was the youngest child in the original group). So, after the old men all died off, Lapita was the matriarch running the whole tribe for quite a few years.

This also led to the side effect that the entire village is blond(e). Lapita herself is blonde, and it seems that she only made out with the blond guys. There are times when I fear for the genetic instability of that tribe...

Well, the final nursing baby was also a boy. BUT - I had one of those events that gave me another woman in her 20s. Yay!

And thanks to the men I had set to "Parenting" and forgot to change, the new woman gave birth and I now have a cute 2 year old girl!

Looks like things will be fine now. Thanks for the encouragement!

BTW, it helps if they have a little bit of parenting skill when setting that as a preference. If your villager doesn't get that skill from "kissing", then having the woman "tell stories" may help.

In my "stable" villages, I'll usually pick one male for the parenting job and let him continue that until he dies happy. \:D Then I'll pick another (usually a young male who is a Master in Research) have him "kiss" a few elderly ladies until he is at least a Trainee Parent, and then let him embrace who ever he wants.

Ah, I'm glad telling stories helps with parenting.

It's just always weird to me that good kisser = good parent in this game. \:D
