I've been through VV1 and VV2 several times. I think I'm on like my 10th or 11th tribe in VV2, though the only one I've saved is my very first one. One thing continues to baffle me about VV2.

Background: When you drop an adult near a child, the adult will either tell a story or teach the children. The children will either squat to listen to the story or they will line up to attend lessons. I prefer the teaching/lessons result because all of the children (well, most anyway) come running in that case.

Question: What's required for a villager to be a teacher as opposed to a storyteller? I had suspected that only master scientists or master doctors could teach. Then I realized that the villager needed some parenting skills to teach. None of it seems to be consistent, though. Does anyone know the specific formula? Or is it random?

Thanks for the redirect. Just so you know, I did a search for "teaching" and "lessons" before I posted my topic. I hate creating new topics when it's unnecessary. I guess I missed that thread.

LadyCF....
This is one of the things I forgot to put in the FAQ thread I made, perhaps you could add it to the list as question #12

12) What's required for a villager to be a teacher as opposed to a storyteller?
The difference between a 'Teacher' and a 'Storyteller' is the amount of parental skills the villager has. A high level Adept or Master parent will Teach the the children, where any other villager, even one with a little bit of parenting skills will tell the children stories.

Why "high" adept? A villager just needs to be an adept parent to teach.

Ive had a few villagers who were adept but apparently not high enough to be a teacher and they only told stories. it happens all the time on my villages.

I have just tested that. I had a trainee parent who, after four (forced) kisses, advanced to adept. I dropped her on some kids and she immediately started teaching them.

My experience has been that if the parent also is a master at some other skill, and has at least adept parent ability that they will teach the kids, otherwise they have to be a master or very high adept to teach.

Yes, that might be true. My parents are almost always a master in another skill before being switched to parenting.

I've never seen an adept parent (no matter what the other skills are) fail to "teach." (But I'll watch for that...)

I have seen adept parents have the action "telling a story", or non-adept parents "teaching" as a regular non-work task. i.e. they find one villager to interact with like in VV1. But they don't earn parenting skills from those tasks.
