Don't know if i'm in the right place, but how vabout a screen saver for virtual villagers. I've got some great ideas for it.

There has been some talk about a screen saver for VV, around the lines of somthing like Fish Tycoons screen saver. i dont know if youve ever played FT, i have the game, and theres a little button on the screen, that you can press, and it turns into a screen saver running real time on your tank. its pretty cool, would probably run along the lines of the map feature in VV, but bigger, so that you can acually see the villagers. They may make it one day, Maybe itll be one of the features in VV3? 'hint hint' 'wink wink' LOL

There are several free- and shareware programs available that will enable you to make a screensaver using images from VV. Some even allow the use of Flash movies. I realise these would not be "realtime"; you'd have to create the SS from your own pictures of past games of VV.

I would like to add the sound track from VV. I have about 350 pictures from the game that I could turn into a slide show and loop it. Is it possible for me to get the sound track?

Are you talking about the music?

The music files are in the Sounds folder within the VV2 program folder. In Windows, if you installed to the default location they will be at - I think (I'm going on memory here; I'm at work at the moment).

The other sounds within the game are also here as discrete files - the parrots squawking, builders hammering, babies laughing, etc.

The game's music is in .ogg format and is located in the Sounds folder in the program directory for the game (the name of the folder varies, depending upon where you bought it). There are five files: song1.ogg through song4.ogg and menu.ogg.

I bought the game from shockwave.com. The reason being is that they send a copy on disk.

Open up Windows Explorer by clicking on My Computer and go to C:\Program Files then look for a folder named Virtual Villagers - The Lost Children or similar; failing that look for s shockwave folder. Once you've found the VV folder look for a sounds folder.

I tried that, explore,program files shockwave. All I got was, user license, uninstall and a short cut. Not lucky am I.

And you have no Programs Files\Virtual Villagers (or similarly-named) folder? If not I suggest you go to the Shockwave site and ask where they install the program to.

Another thought. Do you have a shortcut on the desktop? If you do, right-click on it and choose Properties. Then click the "Find Target..." button. An Explorer window should open in the VV folder. The Sounds folder should be within that.

When you play the game, do you hear sounds and music? If you do, the folder has to be there or the game wouldn't be able to play the audio.

What happens if you click Start=>Search=>All Files and folders then type song1.ogg in the top field (All or part of the file name) and then press search?

Yes, I do get sound. I'll try you suggestion. Of the sesrch. Tried the start,search, all files and folders song1.oog. Even added the hidden folders. No luck. I'll try the disk it came on.

The file name Barbara gave was song1.ogg, NOT song1.oog!

Still no luck. I could learn the tune on the piano, then add it on.
