There I was playing VV2 and an event window popped up. It said that one of the children had fallen down a deep hole. The options were to ignore the child's cries or scarfice 10000 tech points to retrieve the child. I opted to lose the tech and get the kid. The result.... at the bottom of the hole the rescuers found a cache of coconuts as well as one of each of the collectible items. There was also a totem. Any villager dropped on the totem became an esteemed elder even past the 50 elder limit. I was so happy. This of course never happened. I play VV2 so much I play it in my sleep...literally. I dream VV2 and that was one of them. But wouldn't be nice if it were true?? LOL OK so who else has an Event they wished were real??

Yeah, but then people would have too many elders and the leaderboard will be crammed with people who just got lucky (not like it already isn't LOL) but it would be a good event if the child that fell became an elder and got a totem, and no one else. Just saying. Sorry to be so literal. \:\)

LOL be literal and rain on my parade.

Actually I was just hoping to start a thread where ppl come up with crazy event ideas. ie this

The Alien Abduction

A child is kidnapped by extraterrestrials and is returned with master level in all skills and is a runner as well.

or

The Twister

A tornado rips through the village damaging every structure....huts, dam, gong encasement... everything and anything that the villagers have completed. Mind you if that when ever did happen to me I would be very ticked off LOL

You had me thinking that was an event that no one had except you \:\) Wouldn't that event be great though and the "collectibles" you get. If u need 1 of a certain collectible u got that one to complete the collection. \:\) \:\)

Yep I want your dream event... I'm hoping for the Orkin man, I only need a couple of those darn bugs to complete my collection and I am getting everything but. So if the Orkin man would come and spray the brambles, maybe those elusive bugs would be killed and easy to capture than.

What would be cool is a collectible exchange... ie i have an extra one of the beetles player x has and player x has an extra shell that i need.... *sigh*... if only eh?

Hmmmmm.... If I were asked to submit ideas for new events, how about one where if a villager were stupid and stood still doing nothing in one place for too long, vines would grow up around the person and imprison them? That'd be a good way to get rid of villagers who do nothing but use up food...

Or villagers who go swimming too much could drown.

Can you tell I have a lazy one in my bunch? \:\/

Or with collectibles, what if the child were permitted to choose between giving it to the scientists to benefit the village vs keeping it in a private collection to enhance their own research skills when they reach adulthood?

Here's a made up event.

(Villager) has found a mysterious blue coconut on the coconut tree.

Choice A: Eat it on the spot.
Effect: (Villager) felt weird and lay down for a bit. When he/she woke up, he/she felt filled with knowledge. (Villager now full bar in every skill and get's totem, another way to go past 50 elder limit.)
Choice B: Give it to the scientists.
Effect: (Villager) drops coconut and undertoe washes it away at sea (No effect)

There we go peeps thats what I had in mind.

The Medical Cactus Gone Mad Event

One day a villager notices a strange new plant growing by the science hut. It's a very familiar looking cactus. (Familiar to those who play VV1)

Option: Eat the cactus

Effect: Instant master healer

Option: Don't eat the cactus

Effect: Villager develops a pathological hatred/fear of herbs, plants and healers.

Here's mine:

The Beautiful Song
(Villager) is walking on the beach and hears someone singing the most beautiful song. It is coming from further up the beach than anyone normally goes. (Villager) is unsure what to do. Should he/she:

Choice: Follow the song.
Effect: Villager finds a mermaid sitting on a rock. He/she is entranced by the song, and follows the mermaid when she dives into the water. Walks out into the water a short distance and stops at a drop-off. Sudden he/she is pulled over the edge by the ankle and is never seen again.

Choice: Stay in the village.
Effect: Villager stays in the village where it is safe, but everyone's morale goes up from the song and they are more productive in their work. (i.e. more tech points, more food points per time a villager brings food to the bin, more work gets done on building projects...you get the idea)

I actually prefer events that aren't clear-cut which are the better choices.

i.e. in your song event these effects could also result:

Choice: Follow the song.
Effect: Villager finds a mermaid sitting on a rock. He/she is entranced by the song, and follows the mermaid when she dives into the water. Walks out into the water a short distance and stops at a drop-off. The mermaid teaches the villager how to swim like a mermaid and tricks to catching fish. (Villager gains Farming skills as well as adding "ocean" and "swimming" to his/her likes.)

Choice: Stay in the village.
Effect: Villager stays in the village where it is safe, but pines for the song. Villager now dislikes work and likes relaxing.

Sometimes good or bad results could happen no matter what the choice the player/villager made.

1.get a stick and lift the snake off

also dislikes eating
effect#2 the villager sucsesfuly gets the snake of and eats but then becomes poisoned and dies

2.leave it alone

effect#1 the snake leaves and some birds come to eat the food but they die from poison

Good ideas, Sfrose! I should have thought of those!! JUST KIDDING!

Here's another choice:

Gather some other villagers and follow the song.
Effects: 1. Villagers find a mermaid sitting on a rock. One of them is entranced by the song, and follows the mermaid when she dives into the water. Walks out into the water a short distance and stops at a drop-off. The mermaid teaches the villager how to swim like a mermaid and tricks to catching fish. (Villager gains Farming skills as well as adding "ocean" and "swimming" to his/her likes.)
2. Group returns with a mermaid that was found sitting on a rock. They place her in the pool at the bottom of the water fall(or the lagoon, or whatever source of water they have apart from the ocean). A villager takes her baby there to see the mermaid, and the mermaid steals the child. The baby is found later swimming with the mermaid, and the child is now a mermaid.

There's a lot of water around, so how about events for water? The sea could flood up the coast and wipe out a single growth of coconuts or crops. Or there could be a lot of rain upstream from the waterfall, causing the lagoon to flood, which could temporarially make all the available land into farmland that can be planted.

Those would make more difference early in the game than late, but still be interesting.

I think there is one like that in which it affects the food, but taking your ideal a good one might be to flood the mosaic and destroying it. Then the villagers would have to clear it again. Or it could destroy one of the shacks and the villagers would have to repair or re-build it.

Back in one of the VV1 suggestion threads I thought that a hut being destroyed (or other building project) would be a "good" event. It would certainly give the builders something to do!

I agree that destroying the dam would be very interesting. The farm would go away (and the crops damaged) and that would also affect the food supply. Plus having to rebuild the dam and clear the mosaic...

IMHO, if a hut is destroyed, then the villagers start weakening until it is rebuilt (if the population is over the maximum allowed...)

I hope that VV3 will include events like these. (I tend to always chose the more "interesting" choice to give the village or the villager more of a challenge...)

(Villager) sees a strange animal in the trees.
A. Kill the animal and use it for food.
Effect: Animal attacks villager (Status becomes weakened)
B. Ignore it
No effect

Jazzo,

I prefer events where you can't be certain if you are making the right (or safe) choice. For instance, to take your example:
(Villager) sees a strange animal in the trees
  • Kill the animal and use it for food
    1. Animal attacks villager (Status becomes weakened)
    2. Villager kills animal - 500 food gained
  • Ignore it
    1. No effect
    2. Animal attacks villager anyway(Status becomes weakened)

Or

Ignore it:

c. The villager scares the animal and the animal runs away knocking 10 coconuts down. The village gains 700 food. \:\)

They are big coconuts! Normally they are only worth 6 food each, to 10 would be worth 60. ;\)
