I've read through most of this, and have things I agree and disagree with. there are a few points I would like to make in response to some of the posts, though.
I came to VV2 later than most of you and don't know if they tweaked the game by the time I downloaded it or not, but there is definitely a passing on of family traits. I kept track of the parentage of the children and took screenshots of them. You can see a great resemblence in family members when done this way. So the suggestion to make families look more like families, well, they did it already. And if you don't want a lot of breeding going on, for heaven's sake, unclick the breeding choice. There are a few that will insist on breeding even when Parenting is not chosen, but it's not that many.
I do agree that the women who are carrying these children around and washing them and changing them and showing them things around the island should receive more points for doing it. They spend a lot of time taking care of the children, so they should be rewarded for it. I like seeing the children run and play tag. In VV1, they don't have much to do other than gather in front of the hut when the drum is beat or carrying mushrooms when they are put on them, so watching them play tag was a refreshing change of pace. And having them collect items was nice too. Half the time it looked like the shell or the beetle was carrying the child instead of the other way around, though.
I like the idea of having some type of domesticated bird that lays eggs for food. Instead of chickens, it could be a tropical bird, like a peacock, or maybe catch some of those parrots that keep flying through the island and breed them for size to get good eggs from them.
Another animal would be a pig-like creature. Could be a tapir, or some other tropical animal, but it would be a blast to watch the children chasing the 'pig' to try to get it back into the pen. And that would give builders more things to build, if there are animal enclosures that are needed for food animals.
I like the sewing hut in VV2. I use a specific set of clothing to indicate the esteemed elders, both male and female, so I don't have to keep checking to see if they need to be moved to another skill to obtain their totem. I also have a set I use to indicate my healers so that when disease sweeps through, or if I just hear coughing, I can see which one to grab and drop on the sick. The third set of clothing I have chosen is for elders who are healers. I like being able to see them without having to go through the details to find them. In VV1 you can change clothing by clicking on the person and hitting f6, but you cannot go back once you click through the entire inventory of clothing. You are stuck with the last one if you didn't see what you wanted the first time through.
Another ability I really liked in VV2 that I hope carries over to VV3 is the ability to use the keypad to move around the island. It really helped when looking for the beetles and stones to be able to just click on the number to go to the area. And it helped when my two-year-old grandson would move my view away from the thing I was looking for when I had to go do something away from the computer.
I like the tattoos on the villagers. I wish there was more of a selection available. If we could choose to tattoo them, maybe as an indicator of what skill they have mastered, I would use that instead of clothing to make my healers stand out for me. And having sewing available as a skill does make sense. It would be nice if the Esteemed Elder is being kept in the game to have more skills you could use to get them to be an Esteemed Elder. Having a bunch of them fight over fixing huts just makes them all go slower in achieving that goal.
Hunters, well, I would think that would be hard to do. The point is that they have to survive in the area they are in and that they are contained there by the geography, so what would they hunt?
I have really enjoyed the games as they are, and I look forward to the next one coming out.

. I think it's wonderful you found a way to do that but what I'm saying is that those that decide to breed on their own should be programed not to breed with close relatives. I mean come on ewwww. I think it would be a cool extra for US to have some kindof geneology. It's just me.

here's an Idea for the game why not have everyone speak english in the game that way we can actually understand what the villagers are saying instead of the mumbo jumbo they speak. All mine ever say is "huh?", "Hey!" or "ohh" when you pick them up to move them somewhere. Oh and the little kids sometimes giggle (which is adorable). My guess is that they do that because they feel really weird when a hand suddenly picks them up and moves them. But I have no problems with them going "hey" or "ooh" or "oh" or "huh?" etc.

Well like what do you think shouldn't be added? And why? I am just curious.

I can't believe the last screen shot they have! I LOVE IT!!!! I hope that little door way you see is a passageway to the other Virtual Villagers games so you can have 3 tribes going at once and you can new VV people and old VV people go from village to village [but only when you want them to]
or maybe the doorway will be a walk in Virtual hut so you can actually see what it looks like in the huts
BUT, whatever LDW does they CANNOT put any hidden objects puzzles on there because its not their style and it would just ruin the work they made for themselves for 3 years
