set her to breed as soon as she hits 18 Do likes and dislikes get passed down genetically? It'd suck for her to have kids who also hate running and working... That's an awesome villager pic. I have someone in my struggling village who hates running, and he walks soooooo slooooooow. When he was a kid, I wouldn't even let him collect things because I swear there were times when the item decomposed and disappeared by the time he walked it back.

No, likes and dislikes don't seem to be inherited. Lots of people have tried breeding runners, for example, but without any real success. My villager "Slow" grew up to become a master scientist and a master parent. She was working as an adept farmer when she died aged 87. She didn't become an Elder, but I was wrong, she certainly wasn't my worst villager ever. Her sons and daughters became perfectly good members of village society , without much in the way of extreme likes or dislikes. RIP, Slow.

My is the ones who hate to run. I had a beauitful little one, at four years old moved like she was 90. If it wasn't for the fact that I adored this lillte person...black stew would have been served for supper.

I had a villager named Bass who hated work and learning.
He became my first Master and my first Esteemed Elder. Weird.
Not that I'm complaining. ^_^ Well, someone who hates working and learning can still hang out with the girls (parenting), go fish (farming), and trying out different "weeds" (healing?). Ta da!

One of my villagers, Papu, has no "likes or dislikes" but each time I put him at the research table, he goes fishing! If I put him at the crops, he goes fixing a hut or searching, etc... It's not very important, just a little bit irritating An other one, just arrived by the waterfall, with no "likes or dislikes too" just some parenting skills, enjoys the pond, exercises, relaxes at the beach etc, each time I put him to do something. So I appeal to him as soon as a child is a little bit lonely and now he is the teacher of the tribe but I don’t know if he becomes an "Esteemed Elder" one day. In VV1, a girl liked running. Nice, but she banged every time into some thing and when she harvested the crops or the berries, only 2 out of 3 baskets went in the bin. It was very funny!!

Yesterday I decided to train a few villagers as farmers - they had all become master scientists already. I generally do this by dropping them on the coconut trees, and dragging them down again once they start climbing. Usually, after a maximum of about eight tries, they will have gained enough skill to become trainee farmers, and I'll leave them alone to get on with it. One villager kept simply refusing to climb the trees, even though he had no likes or dislikes shown. Eventually, after a dozen or more tries, he became a trainee. Another shinned up the trees with no hesitation, and became a trainee in about four attempts. I hadn't noticed, however, that he disliked both the ocean and fish. Although he could carry out the tasks of collecting coconuts or crops, he would start running away whenever he paused to think about the next task. After several hours he had just reached adept status, and at that rate would never become a master. I noticed that he had somehow accrued skills in healing to adept level, so I made him a doctor. When I turned on the game this morning he was a master doctor. The first villager (with no active likes/dislikes) was still an adept farmer.
I am sure that each villager is an individual and will display quirks that, although not specifically programmed, make the game so interesting.
