I love VV2! It's better than the first one, but here are some suggestions for the next one: (this is based on my impatient nature, so forgive me for that. And I have no idea if these have been suggested already.)
I love how the children get bigger, but it's hard to tell who is of working age. (13 yo's and 14 yo's both say "untrained"). Maybe in the next one there could be some indicator when someone reaches the magic age. Or under skill it could be blank or say "child?"
Also, with the nursing women... it would be nice if there were a percentage (or something) floating over their heads, so that you could tell how much longer you have to scrimp for mushrooms before getting half your workforce back. I actually feel sorry for them, having to stop their lives for two years without having a choice. I agree with the daycare or school idea. They could even have field trips as they get older and help the adults with some of their tasks, maybe earning skills but at a slower pace?
On the details page, perhaps you could place tickers on the skill bars, so that it is easier to tell exactly how skilled they are. It's a little annoying to have to flip back and forth, checking boxes and viewing what it says on the main screen. Sometimes it looks like they should be Masters but they are really Adept. When the population gets really large it's harder to keep track.
And finally-- I'm sure I'll be criticized for this-- in the future, a game like this that is not set in real time would not be a bad idea. My hubby loves those civ games, which are similar and takes him from the beginning of time to the present. Each action has a consequence right then, and one game still keeps him busy for weeks. You could still have all the wonder of a virtual village, plus you could fit in all these wonderful suggestions everyone has been posting, and the game could actually go on longer (in a matter of speaking). Just a thought.
Overall, great game. Glad I bought it. And thank you thank you for coming out with the Mac version. Keep those Mac games coming!
