Why is it that some villager types..ie..blondes/brunette/redhead ponytailed females are so frequently occuring and other types..ie..short straight haired blonde/brunette/greyish/etc females are so rare?? I have had very few blonde short haired men (yellow blonde) but I seem to get lots of the curly haird blonde men with the headband...some tribes tend towards all blonde or all redhead or all dark haired...I don't intentionally ''breed'' certain types...it just seems to happen that way...are some typed intentionally ''rare'' or is it purely random??? thanks in advance for any replies.

The villagers do tend to "breed" towards certain hair color types. I may have a village with mostly one color (redheads, brunettes, etc.) since early in the game I'll have only one or two mothers, and late in the game, I'll have a male who is a Master Parent. I haven't (yet) made a breeding chart to see what kids usually show up with the same parents (or parent look-a-likes) but I noticed that the choices are limited to the parents' "head type."

I've been having some fun with breeding experimentation - I've been trying to get an all-blonde village by selectively breeding the villagers with the lightest hair. (I've also been aiming for dark-haired and red-haired villages, but have had most success wuth the blonde one.)
So far my village is about 75% blonde, with most of the blonde women and female children looking like blonde Princess Leias. I do get the odd genetic throwback, such as the one shown in the picture - if I were Elaku, the alleged father, I'd be demanding a DNA test for sure!

since the game has more parental lineage programing, its not uncommon to eventually get more of a certain kind, with the original game you got all sorts, but with this game because the kids look more like their parents, eventually youll end up with alot of look alike villagers, same with hair color and styles, although you can still get a kid that may be out of left feild once in awhile, most of them will end up with some of the parents traits.

I've just got three runners, but not triplets! Yay! They all look alike and have the same birthyear (they are 15 at the moment) and mother and father. They appear to be two twins and their slightly older brother. Popoki and Rangi have running (of course) in their likes, and Coen just has running, with no dislikes.

I have an all orange haired tribe. But I did it by selective breeding and killing off everyone else.

One really strange thing I've noticed is that my mostly blonde village has had 170 babies made so far, but no triplets have born yet. Perhaps the blondes are less fertile?

In one dark-haired village, I've had 306 babies and 4 sets of triplets, in another dark-haired village I've had 551 babies and 12 sets of triplets, and in a dark hair/red hair village I've had 657 babies and 11 sets of triplets.

They all look alike
I phrased that badly. Coen (on the left of the picture) has black hair whereas his brothers have brown hair. They are all wearing the white "karate" suit, though. By the way, neither of their parents is a runner.

I tried a little experiment... I chose one of my ''rare'' villagers, a male with short, straight yellow (or bright) blonde hair as a parent and mated him exclusively to all of the elegible women in the tribe...this produced lots of babies of course but NONE replicated him! I have played this game for quite some time and this particular villager type seldom pops up in the population. Every other type will eventually replicate itself and quite often I will see the ''same'' villager over and over...it's just curious to me why this one male villager in particular seems to crop up only rarely in my villages at least.

Perhaps if you keep breeding him back to his daughters you will get more of the same? (It's not illegal in Virtual Villagers, although you obviously wouldn't want to try it in real life...!)

I have an interesting village - everyone died out apart from three men and one woman of breeding age. I made one male only an adept parent, to restrict the gene pool. I now have a village where everyone sounds the same - each child says "ee" when they are picked up, and each adult woman says "oh" in the same way, and each adult male says "Hey" in the same way.
