hi peoiple i have been searching for the last pebble collectible and the bettle collectable for over a month now, and had no chance of finding them Anyone know what i can do??

It is basically luck. I have one game that is still missing two (uncommon!) beetles and one gold pebble.

I keep my game focused on the gong encasement and use the '8' and '3' buttons a lot to keep checking the other area.

I've found that if I pay more attention to the collectibles while finisihing the puzzles I had better luck at completing all of the collections earlier. But eventiually, the ones I need show up.

Got the last beetle!!

It can be so frustrating waiting for the last few collectibles! After several days with no new collectibles (and believe me, I was looking very hard for them, and starting to despair of ever finding them) today I found a rare pebble (now have 10/12) and a rare butterfly (now have 11/12) within 5 minutes of each other. Still need 2 rare shells, and one rare beetle, sigh. But it's encouraging to hear of other people finding them!

What is more disappointing then waiting for them to show up? When they show up at the bottom of the screen and your kids get stuck trying to get them!

Or they run into something on their way back to the science hut and drop it ... Why is it nearly always a rare one they drop?

Or you accidently drop someone on top of them and they loose it!

Or you spot the one you desperately need, but you're in a different game slot with a different set of missing collectibles!

I found my last two elusive collectables, after weeks of trying, I had the game set to 1/2 speed then they where there , the rare ones disappear very fast , on1/2 speed you can catch them , good luck

Or you open the game and immediately spot a rare collectible. By the time you've found a kid the collectible has disappeared - usually staying until a couple of seconds after you've dropped the kid on it, to give you even more false hope.

Well, I'm still missing one beetle.. I'm looking that ugly /%&$% beetle for 70 days..

I got my last shell this morning, just a butterfly and pebble to go now

A couple of days ago I got one of the missing beetles. Then I tried switching the 1/2 speed to see if the ones I was still missing would show up (as suggested above.) But that didn't seem to help any so I went back to normal speed.

This evening I was on the phone with a friend, so I was watching my village and villagers keeping an eye for the missing collectibles. To my pleasant surprise I got the last missing beetle and a few minutes later the last missing pebble! The collections in that game is now complete!

So my advise is again: just be patient!

When the pebbles get caught at the bottom like that, just drop the child a little bit ABOVE it. They don't have to be exactly on it to be able to pick it up.

I accidently got my last beetle in my first game. I was training a doctor and one of my kids was sniffing the blue flower I needed to for the doctor to examine. To move the kid out of the way, I picked her up & just dropped her. To my surprise, the girl knelt down and started to pick something up. I had "accidently" dropped her on the purple w/ green dots beetle, which I'd been looking for for days. I never even saw the beetle! I was lucky.

I've now started a new game and am waiting for the uncommon all blue beetle to finish the game.

I got them rare beetle first in my 4th tribe (lucky) one has a red tip and one purple, then I waited for the rest , I finally got them all
I am waiting on a butterfly to complete the collection , and it could turn up anywhere, so I am not looking just waiting to pounce when I see it, its the Lime Green one so when it decides to flutterby i will catch it!!

I feel your pain. My village is now 200 years old and I finally found that last tiny black and purple beetle. I think it is going to be another 200 years before I find that last pebble.

Another horror story while trying to finish the collections...

I was searching for my last beetle (the rare all the way to the right) for over 3 months when on my regular check ups of my villages one day, I finally found it!!! The game had just loaded and I immediately went to the beetle location and within a matter of seconds it just popped up. I paused the game so I could find the little buggers to pick them up faster so they're not walking away or hiding somewhere... I frantically search the whole island, once, twice, thrice... and after the 3rd check, just like Homer Simpson, I let out a loud and anger-filled, "DOH!!!"

I HAD NO MORE KIDS TO PICK UP THE DANG LAST PIECE!

Oh, that's sad! When I just need a few collectibles, if my village doesn't have any kids, I'll spend my time in other villagers (until a kid is weaned) just so that I'm not tormented by seeing a needed collectible.

BTW, here's an easy trick to find kids (or even to see if you have any kids):

Assuming that you keep your details screen sorted on "age", if you double click a totem (any totem), and then hit "d" or the Details button, the youngest villager in your village will be displayed. Return to the village screen and his/her action item will give you a hint as to where he/she is hiding.

If you don't yet have totems, this works almost as well: use the details screen to scroll through your village (up or down) until you see a kid. (If you don't have totems, then there are often less villagers to scroll through.)

I'm working on a guide for all of the kid actions. To use as an index to know which area of the village to find them.

Oh yeah, I do that trick to find the kids... but for that one moment I was caught off guard and rattled when I saw that last one that I panicked and started this weird screen/island scrolling in a Z-formation trying to look for one.

Hehe, man I had all the patience in the world to stick with that village for months just tyring to get one piece and when it does show, I lose it all and go crazy and panic... go figure, hehe

I've found myself in a similar position a couple of times with "advanced" games. Normally I try to ensure that I have at least two kids at all times, but on these occasions I was returning to a game that had been left on its own for a while. In each case there were a few babes-in-arms, but no kids running around.

Even when I have several million tech points and plenty of food I still try to pick up collectibles and mushrooms, to keep my hand in as much as anything. It certainly felt strange having to ignore those that popped up, although thankfully none of the missing ones appeared.

Still no luck im sort of starting to give in...

Be patient... in my advanced games I paused them and moved several kids into each of the "special" areas... for the beetles and the pebbles. Kept going 8-3-8-3-8-3-8 over and over got one of the rate pebbles that way.

I'm stll waiting for the pink pebble, it has appeared twice on my other game where I don't need it

Just a warning that people should be careful what they wish for! I have four games runnning on my home computer. One was my first, and like the first child got lots of attention and I completed all of the collections. The next two were clones of a trib that had an early disaster. I tried two different stratgies to help them survive, and they both flourished! But the collectibles were slow to find. The fourt was started with the collectibles as a priority, so all those collections were finished before the gong was!

It was the third village that had the last missing beetles and pebble that I talked about earlier. But now that they are all done, I find that I'm not visiting the tribes quite as often. It's nice that it's complete, but it isn't the same.

I may start the fifth village, but I'll be away for the long weekend.

I have just found the last collectable on my 4th village..WITHOUT buying Level 3 Exploration... yes it can be done, I dont even have L3 farming or science as its a fairly new village, Population 18, but because of the low population I have had to collect everything to gain tech points and without fish and coconuts I have pounced on every mushroom , eyes peeled it can be done.

Still ain't got the last pebble and beetle this is really taking the "MICHAEL". Lol wish there was a way just to get the beetles and pebble no straight away bin searching for ages!

I find as the population grows , its harder to find them , plus,if dont need tech points you are just looking for that one.. then It may seem longer wait... I found them all without Exploration 3 and I can post proof.......

With L3 Exploration you can spot collectibles when you are looking at the overall map. Not worth bothering with, IMNSHO, so it's always the last technology level I get.

It's usually last for me also. But in a current game, I wanted to see if I could complete the gong before getting L3 Farming. I managed to do it with only 11 villagers! By that point, I also completed the shells and 11/12 of the butterflies, pebbles and beetles. I also didn't work on any building projects besides the dam, briars and mosaic (and the villagers themselves insisted on finishing the first hut. I also didn't have L3 Explore or L3 Medicine.

I bought L3 Medicine when my runner slowed down at 58, and just bout L3 Explore. I was pleased that my missing butterfly showed up soon after. So now this game just needs the last pebble and beetle!

almost exactly like I did it it/ doing it, but I had two or 3 lucky food events and first gong ring granted food so I have hut 2 built and have population of 18 but I have 4000 food so they will not starve, farming can wait although Its a serious decision what to buy next L3 science or L2 and L3 farming... L3 exploration I no need, have all the collectables!! and as a PS I have 9 elders, sad thing is one died this night I tried to save her with stews and doctors but: she did work hard and was getting slow!!!so raise a glass to Nina !!

Personally, I don't spend much time looking for collectibles. I don't really need the benefits of finishing collections, (I can't say what they are because it's not a spoiler topic.)

I've been playing one game forever. I have all the butterflies and all the pebbles and am only missing one shell and one beetle. I keep checking in for them but no luck. I guess there isn't any real trick other than the patience of Job.

i got my last beetle by making the screen show me the patch, and the research table and i became research nazi, forcing them to never leave the table while i watched for my last couple of beetles

it gave me something to do to keep me occupied
