We get hail at all times in Oklahoma too..especially in "Tornado Alley" where I live...but I was born and raised on the Pacific coast and never saw hail until I moved here. It just seems to me that hail wouldn't be a problem in an area where the atmosphere is not condusive to that type of disturbance.
I agree that weather should effect productivity more and I would like to "see" it rain, storm, tsunami, or heat wave.
