Are we not allowed to help each other with the game?

Somebody had asked how to build a sewing hut on another thread and I told her, but put "warning - spoiler" before it, but yet my reply got deleted.

I didn't know we weren't allowed to help? If somebody asks a question, are we not allowed to answer?

Yes, everyone is encouraged to help, but we try to avoid putting spoilers in a thread that's not marked as a spoiler. The majority of the community prefers not to "stumble upon" spoilers in seemingly safe threads. Sometimes, when a spoiler is added to a thread that isn't marked, and others have already answered adequately (especially with a pointer to the spoilers thread in the Guide), I delete the spoiler post to avoid having to tag the entire thread as a spoiler. It's nothing personal, it's just preserving a longstanding tradition here. \:\)

SharonG,

Here is a trick you can use so this does not happen again:

After you write your reply, look for the button. Highlight any text in your reply that you think might be a spoiler. Then Press the button to change the color of your highlighted text to the same color (light yellow) of the background. That way it is invisible. At the bottom of your reply, tell people there is hidden text and for them to view the text they should highlight it.

Here is an example of some text that is highlighted:

To be or not to be that is the question.

To view the above text, highlight it with your mouse!

It is easy to do! Try it! ;\)

You're right, Borg. In most instances, when I encounter a spoiler in a thread, I mark the entire thread as a spoiler and let it stand. But there are certain threads that I'd like to remain spoiler-free because of the value of the other posts, and (in those rare circumstances) I might actually delete a post that provides an explicit puzzle solution that spoils the other content. \:\)

Oops, I think I've done that too. You can go ahead and delete it, I don't mind.
