Please excuse my abrupt rudeness but there just isn't any other way to describe this (!).
He is 35 and the only skills he has is Master Parent! I have tried everything to the point I have experienced sever hand cramps from clicking and moving him...He has only 2 modes of movement.."going inside" & "waiting for someone"...

What do you do with something like this???

train him in another (i suggest building) and check that one off for him, it might improve things

Doesn't work or should I say "he" doesn't work!
I have literally sat for an hour at a time just clicking on him..move him to a building he just stands there, then he either looks up and says "No" or "waiting for someone". re-click and it is the same thing...he will not comply!!And for some reason when you have a female working on "parent" they seem to always "hook up w/him"..
I have tried building/tech/farming w/no success. at this point. I guess I am just going to have to consider him a lost cause as I really don't want to use him as a parent...his off-spring are not showing any promise of being "good" villagers.. he has 7 children and I am having a time w/them also getting them to master a skill.

It sounds like he's the alpha male. All the girls will find him irresistible. Probably farming is easiest, with a little patience, if you are to teach him a trade, assuming you have L2. Drop him on a coconut palm and let him try to climb. Once he starts to climb drag him away and drop him again. He gets credit for a successful attempt immediately he is off the ground. If he refuses or if he stops and is "waiting for someone" pick him up and drop him again. Eventually, despite the attentions of the ladies, he should reach trainee. However, be prepared for his future farming to continue to be interrupted unless and until he ceases to be the alpha male.

By the way, don't think of getting rid of him; the women would only transfer their affections to another poor male.

i always thought researchnig was easiest for alphas because they have less time to walk around and get interrupted

You will need to un-check whatever females you have on parenting.

If he is the alpha-male and any females are set on parenting, he will always be "waiting for someone", and therefore, get nothing of his own stuff done.

You don't need to set anyone on parenting, for that matter - just choose who you want to breed and drop them on each other and you can breed them. I find it a waste to set anyone's skill on parenting - I would rather choose who breeds and when.

beware though, sometimes a villager with any training will "embrace" even if it is not their checked skill

early in the game it is wise to only use females to initiate breeding so you can control the population growth more effectively

I've got a guy who has hardly any parenting skills, but the girls who are trainee and adept parents won't leave him alone. I'm trying to make him an EE (Esteemed Elder for those of you who havent figured that out) and though he was researching, he was still being interupted, so I only have one breeder right now and she's nursing.

he is the alpha male then

and they will not leave him alone

it has nothing to do with skill levels in any category

That's what I assumed, just checking, but will there be more in my village after he dies? It's kindof annoying. I didn't even know that there were alpha males in VV.
