Is there ANY way to make a villager who dislikes running move faster? I have had two now who don't like to move the first twisted his ankle and the second was born that way.

If a villager dislikes running, there's not a lot you can do. Perhaps find them a sedentary task like research, or child-rearing if they're female (ha!) where their inability to move fast isn't such a drawback, rather than farming or building?

Nope. Even when "running" away from something else they dislike, or when they are the recipient of unwelcome advances, they will still move at a snail's pace. As had been said, they don't have to move far in research, and parenting for a slow female is another career option.

I have succeeded in getting a slow villager to an Esteemed Elderhood a couple of times, but not often. They tend to die first ...

Yes! I've haven't (yet) given up on any villager, no matter how slow or recalcitrant. All my villagers have died old old age (or bites by fire ants, or starvation, or disease, or hubris in banging the gong, or ...)

I can't say that.

When a woman reaches 50, she is put in a yellow dress. Anyone who dislikes running gets the yellow dress or a yellow shirt for the men.

Why bump off the women over 50? \:o

I've got more Elders from women than from men, as I don't usually set men to parenting so there's one more skill they can gain. With a maxed out village most women, set to parenting in their 20s, can become a master parent by 40 and move on to other skills.

what good are elders once you reach 50?
Some are masters in every skill but still aren't consider elders.
If I wanted more elders, I'd wait until they are 50 anyway because she can become a master parent in 20 minutes from having no experience at all.

I have taken to restarting the game once I've reached 50 Elders, so it didn't occur to me that you weren't interested in more.

I wouldn't have ever thought of such a thing. It's interesting the different ideas people come up with.

i have a slow villager that was born slow and i tried to get her to pick up items and she would drop them. then i picked her up when she was a little older to get a rare item and she dropped that to. i wanted to smack her across the island. now she's practically grown and still wont do anything. just strolls around like grandma on a sunday afternoon.

I give my villagers a uniform. Like for farmers the women get an orange dress & the guys get the orange top for builders they get the same red outfit. For reserchers the guys get black & the girls get blue. For Doctors they get white. For mothers I give then all the same dress. This way I can look at my villagers & know if they are doing what they are assigned.

I change my villagers tasks so often, I don't have the patience to change uniforms all the time . . .

Generally, I find the best way to get elders is, if a villager is a master of a task . . . set them to do something else. Never let anybody do what they do best. I've got a village of 12 people, four of them chilren, and of the eight adults, four are elders, and two are going to be, if something doesn't kill them off. If one of them lives long enough to father some more kiddies, he'll make EE easily. (I shut down all the other parents to give him the practice. ;\) )
