I have collected numerous totems. Does anyone have any suggestions on placement? I am trying various ways of arranging them without them hiding a collectible.

The diving board overlooking the waterfall. Stack em on top of each other. There is a thread on this topic if you search back far enough.

I stack them in the topleft corner of the village, right in the tide next to the herb. They seem to stack well there. If that fills up just look for other places that won't block what you need. remember, you can stick totems right behind each other, so you can stack a lot of them in a small space.

also screened of that "nature is calling" area so i didn't have to watch them potty

I stack them up by the diving rock, as well. When I've got a good number it makes it quite amusing to watch the villagers fight their way past them so they can dive into the pool.
