PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can it be sorted on VV3 that when you turn the game on it starts at the main menu.
As soon as we turn on the game we are confronted with pop ups asking us to make decisions for a village that belongs to a different member of the family!!!!!!
If I was the only person playing I wouldn't mind but as a family this has caused rows and tears!!!!!
"Why are my villagers all sick?" was my daughters question the other day after I made a choice that got all her people bitten. If she had made the choice then it would have been o.k but as I did it I am in trouble.
We have made a village and let them all die just so that after we have sorted our village we can leave it on "The dead one" This is a major hassle though.
Most games start at main menu, is there some reason why VV doesn't?
This annoyed us on VV1 but figured it would be dealt with by VV2. Really hope it is done on VV3 as if not we won't be buying it as it works out we are not playing our own villages, which makes it pointless.

I also agree with this - I am the only VV player in the family, but I have several villages running and I also get confused when the game starts up! If it is at all possible I'd love to see VV3 start with the main menu so I could chose the village I want to work with first.

It just makes more sense that way. It's also easier if you wanted to change some of the settings in the options menu before you actually started playing around with your village(s). I for one hate starting up the game only to be confronted by the music blaring loudly because someone in my family turned the game volume up, and having to access the main menu before I can fix it.

Hmm...perhaps, as well as the game going to the main menu on start-up, a button for the options menu that allows you to access it directly from the village might come in handy. It'll certainly help with first-timers who need to reset the difficulty level to 'easy' if they didn't do so before they started their first village.

I'm glad we're not the only ones. Is there anyone else? I love getting replies!!!

I always liked the idea of the game going straight in, but these are good arguments.

What if I make the game go straight into the game, skipping the main menu, but only if there is 1 saveslot in use? If more than 1 game are going, the game can go to the main menu.

Would this be ideal, or should the game just always go to main menu?

I bow to your genius, VV is excellent and this is our only issue with it.
Personally I think your idea will work fine. As a non programer I figured main menu start up all the time would be easiest, but your way would keep single and multi players happy.

Arthur, couldn't this be a choice by the user. Like the choice of full screen.

I like going straight into the game (the last village opened).

The thing is not everyone playing is a single user.
Did you mean it could be a choice made at very start of the game before any villages are started? We click on always start at menu, you click on always start at last village visited?
Having to click on the name of the village you want to be in has got to be less hassle than finding your hubby has done something terrible to your favourite villager by making a decision in your absence!!
Arthurs solution is a good compromise for both.

I like Quickstorm's solution as a preference you can set; even if I'm running multiple games, I prefer to go to the last game I was playing

I'm happy with either Arthur's or Quickstorms solution, as long as I don't get blamed for sabotaging someones village anymore!!!

I know one feature request that has been made before was to have the name of the tribe displayed on the main screen, where the food, tech points and population are displayed. Would that solve the problem?

No, the issue is that I turn on VV2 and as my daughter was the last person on it on her village, her village comes on, if there is a pop up, do this or that and she's out then I have to play god for her village. This means we are all playing god on each others screens. we need to be able to say which vilage we want WITHOUT going to one first.

Now I understand the concern.

In essence, you would like to have on the main screen a box with a player's name (like a lot of games) with the note: if this is not you click or change player.

A very legitimate request.

thanks, i wanted it as main menu start and Quickstorm said make it an option, so we both take credit. Hopefully Arthur is monitoring this thread so more people please.

Quickstorm you can already do that on the main screen ( change tribe) it's just that to get to it you have to deal with the village that popped up when you turned on first.
I really like your idea of optioning main memu start or villlage start.
