What percentage does unknown chemical affect with a tank of fish? And what happens if you only have one fish in?

We are told that the unknown chemical only effects certain fish, and it will not effect them every single time. We have not been told what the % is that it will effect them. What I have done while breeding, is put the fish I don't need in the sell tank untill it is full. Then I will add several doses of the chemical and just watch to see which fish it effects.

it can decrease the value, but not always

sometimes the fish mutations make them a less valuable fish, and othertimes a more valuable fish
