Am I missing something? Are we really suppose to be able to tell what it says behind the vines?
(I.E. The pictures of the required herbs can be seen in the drawings on the wall once the vines have been removed)

Are there required stews that must be made?

Yes, there are puzzles that involve the stew(s). There are several ways to discover stew recipes - you could experiment with the various recipes (which I think is the most satisfying way to discover them), you could wait until you solve the vine wall puzzle and learn a specific recipe that way, or you could consult the stew recipes that have been contributed by others (which can be found in the Guide Section of the forum).

From reading Barbara's comments, I believe you click on the markings on the wall behind where the vines were, and a screen pops up that you read, and on that screen is certain information about a stew. It has been a while since I did that so I don't recall for certain. I know the best way to find all the recipes is in the recipes guide. it explains all the recipes so don't click it if you don't want to know them all. The link is in my signature ("stew recipes").

That is not how you learn the stew recipe. You have to actually look at the wall with your own eyes and study the markings.

Ok i have looked at the markings and my eyes hurt and i still have no idea, can i get a hint?

The pictures of the 3 flowers are on the wall.

I have 2 gong pieces (the bottom 2), level 3 of all techs but culture. I have taken villagers to the flowers so many times they must think I am fixated on flowers....but no stew. I have my pot going,fire on, I did look at the recipes but decided to try my own concoction. The villager looks at the flower sometimes says it is interesting, sometimes it's nothing, other times it's needs additional research. I have 3 Elders, tried them, same thing. How do I get a pot of stew made?
