does anyone know if collectibles will appear when you are on map view. I've been waiting n watchin, but I always get impatient and go back to the game, where there is, very convieniently, a colletible. I'm not sure if its just bad timin, because I know that you can see collectibles from the map. Can anyone help?

They appear on the map only after you attain a certain tech level.

There are two different questions:

1. Can collectibles ever appear on the map view?

2. If you are currently in the overhead map view, will new collectibles appear?

Answers:

Question 1. LadyCFII has already answered this. Once certain technologies are met, if a collectible is already on the ground somewhere, going to the overhead map view will show it.

Question 2. No. Absolutely not. At the time that you enter the overhead map view, only collectibles that already exist will be shown. You can watch this screen from here to eternity, and you will not see any new collectibles pop up. You must return to the regular non-overhead-map view. Of course, if you do this, and you wait a bit for new collectibles to be generated, and then return to the overhead map view, you will see them. However, if you waited too long the collectibles may *poof* before you can get them. The safest way is to do the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 on the numberpad and zip around your village looking for them.

Here is a question that I do not think we as users can answer: If you are on the overhead map view, which will not show any new collectibles, are new collectibles still being generated on the ground? Or do new collectibles only generate when you are in the regular non-overhead-village view?
