I've had Virtual Villagers I for a couple of weeks now and I keep running into exactly the same problem each time I play (5 times now). After I finally get the Golden Child, he doesn't get the butterflies to follow him, perhaps because there aren't any. I see butterflies earlier in the game, usually around the berry bush, but they've disappeared by the time the GC is born. When I put him in the flower garden, for a split second it says "Calling butterflies," but that message disappears so rapidly that it's almost subliminal.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

he has to call the butterflies to the garen before they will follow him!

Waldo, the GC is the Golden Child. He will only appear very late in the game.

And the GC is one of the puzzles that you will need to solve. He doesn't appear automatically. There is help available in the Guide section at the bottom of the forums.
