I'm sorry to hear that you're so frustrated. The puzzles in VV: TLC require a completely different strategy than the one that you used for the first Virtual Villagers game. You might try perusing the information in the Guide Section, which can offer you everything from spoiler-free strategy tips to a complete walkthrough. The food problem is solvable, but (unlike VV1) a series of puzzles must be completed to provide a sustainable food supply for your villagers.
