Does anyone know if there is there a limit to how many crops will grow on the farm? I'm desperately researching Level 3 Harvesting but now my food has run out and my islanders are watering the crops but to no avail, and now they are starting to panic

The crops do come back after a short period of the field going fallow....don't worry too much. There is another backup source of food if you look around as well

Thanks Treefern, I was at slow speed all morning when I thought I had set it to fast - D'oh!

Looks like I'll get to Level 3 Harvesting in time now I've changed the speed, but I didn't know about the alternate food source - I'll get looking for that, cheers

I'm actually in the same boat - trying to get enough research points to get to Harvesting 3 before my food runs out and besides the foraging tree and the one field, I can't seem to find any other food source....

Anyone know how long it takes to grow your first crops? I've been watering and planting. Maybe I'm not patient enough. Thanks.

Raven, are you having troubles feeding your peeps with the 2 food sources that yuou have....maybe you should be having more people looking for food?

melomak, as the Pantene ad in Australia goes, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen. Be patient, and as long as you have as many resources helping as you can, your farm should come up soon. Sorry, I can't give any estimate to hhow long it takes though

I think it took me between 1 to 2 hours real time with the game on fast, so just be patient and it will bloom in time.

I only have 10 people and 3 of them are too young. Everyone else aside from one researcher is working on food....

Raven, I think you should be fine then, just keep an eye on those villagers, and make sure they keep doing the jobs that you want them to do

I'm trying to figure out why my villagers are trying to water the "toilet" patch with the lagoon water. If I try to move them to a different field, the water dissapears out of thier hands. I have the crop of carrots by the hut, but where is the next crop?

You should let your villagers water the dead flowers with lagoon water if they want to. Something cool could happen!

As for the farm, these villagers really like carrots!! I wouldn't wait for them to plant broccoli or potatoes!

Also, when you move a villager who is carrying something, they will drop it (and you can't retrieve it). It's a big jolt to them to be suddenly picked up in the middle of their work!

AS for the water disappearing from their hands...not much we can do about it. If you disturb a villager while they are doing something, they seem to forget what they were doing...and drop what they were carrying.

We have asked previously if these dropped items could be made to not disappear, but I think this is quite low down on the fix list

Hey thanks for the info!! I was worried that they were doing all of that watering for nothing!!

One more question... do they ever move that boulder? They keep trying to move it, but have no luck.

I was also told there is an alternate Food source? I haven't gotten to fishing yet....will they find it before I research all of my harvesting?
Thanks!!

Tigger, that is an open-ended question....It all depends on how observant you are about your village, and how quickly your researchers are researching

As for the boulder, when the villagers are ready to move the boulder, they will. AT the moment, they are just curious about their surroundings. Keep watching them for more clues

There are only three food sources in the game. The alternate food source that was mentioned is probably referring to the replenishment of one of the early food sources - it doesn't stay gone forever.

i've been told that there is only 3 food sources. Once depleated, they do eventually come back.

So, is it normal that the Berry bush (after i've been farming) only brings in 3 units of food? My farm brings in 7 units. If the berries were only 3 at the beginning, I sure didn't notice it. I fear my villagers are becoming gluttonous.

It's normal! The berry bush continues to provide fewer and fewer berries per basket as your villagers harvest the berries. After the berries are mostly gone, they will get only 2 units of food per basket.

The berry bush brings in different amounts of food depending on how long you forage from it. It goes as low as 2 per trip, I believe.
