Hi guys.

I just got a question I hope you guys can answer it with your vast experience in VV2.

I've got Algae in the sea and I'm running out of coconuts... My villagers have got roughly 5273 tech points (3 adept scientists).. I'm wondering whether I'll have enough time to learn the next tech that unlocks algae eating fish or are my villagers doomed to death?... MistyVillager informed me that that tech is 90000, which is too long a wait, my Villagers will have all starved by then. What is the sequence in which you fellars researched things and how do you cope with an early food shortage crisis?

Thank you.

I just found a mushroom, it's worth 6 points of food. How is this enough to feed a tribe of 10? \:\(

Hello again, Dickov. Have you built the dam yet, so that you can grow crops (don't forget to build the scarecrow, or else the birds will eat everything)? The crops and coconuts will tide you over until the algae can be cleared.

I just started the good part of 5 hours ago... I don't think I have the damned technology (pardon the pun :)). I remember in VV1 when the berry bush could no longer provide you would've gotten fishing and farming techs already. Why is this one so difficult? I'm now looking up the techs and all but I'd still appreciate it if you could provide me your valued opinion on how to do things. \:\)

In any case, does time progress slower when you "don't" play virtual villagers. It seems to do that for me, my food supplies finish quicker and my building progress seems slower. Do any of you experience this as well?

Food is a little tough on this game. If you don't have the dam yet, build that, and the scarecrow (If you need help on either of those, send my a private message, don't want to spoilt too much here). Then keep your village under 15 untill you can clear out teh algae, and you should do ok.

hi dickov,

I remember worrying about running out of food. I found out i can put game on pause until i see mushroom or look around for a mushroom, then take a child to mushroom and push spacebar again so the child could take mushroom to food. Then I would push spacebar to pause again. I believe the musrooms show up even on pause --at least on my version they do.

But if you keep pausing, there is no progress in terms of technology points or population... =.=

In any case, I found out how to build a dam. Excellent! Now my villagers will have an infite supply of food in...1, 2, 3 hours? \:\(

I hope those "birds" aren't as scary as they sound... Are they the red birds that like gather on the island? I thought those were like for decorative purposes only... \:\)

i already had the crops when i figured out the pause thing. i was just afraid villagers would die before another crops had grown. i haven't figured out anything about the birds , except they end up showing up when i check a skill level or change a preference. I am stuck on getting the last piece of the gong up
I have that and 2 bugs to go.

[SPOILER, but so is the stuff above this reply!]

Have you read the puzzle guide? I think you need to build the dam first so you can have crops growing to support your villagers. There is a link to the puzzle guide in my signature below.

Also, doing what Rosemary suggests (keep game paused and search for mushrooms) can theoretically provide your village with an infinite amount of food.

It goes against logic that mushrooms can grow when everything else on the island is frozen in time. But not only can mushrooms appear, I believe collectibles can appear while the game is paused, and if you pick up a collectible of one you already have it is worth tech points.

It is a shame you do not have a dozen children. When you pause the game and put more than 4 kids on an item then unpause the game, you harvest multiple copies of that item. For some items that are worth several thousand tech points, you can really rack up the points. I recall collecting over 20,000 tech points at once by putting 10 kids on a rare collectible.

I tried it on a Black butterfly wing and a mushroom with 3 seperate kids and it did not work. I guess it works only with four or more. I'm going to get the stork over soon to try exploiting that _bug_ lol.

Borg, that is genius!!!!!
Also if your coconuts and crops are under their official worth e.g coconuts under 8 or crops under 10, put every working person on them and they ALL collect a full quota, so lots of 8 point coconuts and 10 point crops. It only stops working whenthe first person deposits their stuff in the food bin.
