I think you should keep an eye on your computer's clock to make sure it isn't behaving erratically. Watch it for awhile and make sure that it is maintaining accurate time. And it wouldn't hurt to note both the time on your computer clock and the crop timer about every 5 minutes or so to see if there's a correlation there.

I had that problem with my old computer when i first downloaded VV1,I started 3 games and lost them b4 i found out it was the CMOS battery, its what keeps information while your computer is turned off, like clocks and settings etc, If your CMOS battery is dead or on its way, you should replace it, their pretty cheap, like 15 bucks, its the installing you have to be carefull about, depending on the computer it can be in a very delicate spot, so you should get a professional to do this. when your restarting your computer it usually says the status about the CMOS battery, but depending on your computer, it may wizz past it b4 you can read it. would check it out see if you can catch it, if you cant and you think that may be the problem, just take it into any computer guy and ask for a new one to be installed. and dont let them tell you it will cost more then 50 bucks, including labour.

I had other problems even after that, broke down and bought a new one. didnt realise how bad i had it till i ran the new one lol

hi, thanks for the reply, the battery is okay cause it's a new computer. After I wrote my last message yesterday I checked the time on the computer and it was set at sept 2003 at 3am,not sure if the game does that or not so I put it at the right date and time but lost everything but knew it would do that. I started a new one and just got my garden and everything back. I set the time on the computer last night at 5pm and paused it for the night and this morning it was just at 5:45pm and for every 10 minutes the game plays the time on the computer on goes by 1 minutes. strange.

Something appears to be wrong with your computer's clock. The game cannot affect your computer clock, but it does rely totally on the accuracy of the computer's clock to control everything from villager aging, to crops, to Island Events, and more. You might want to have your computer checked out, since the game will not operate properly if the computer clock is erratic.

Addie, if theres somthing wrong with your clock getting your first crops is wonderfull but you still need to get that fixed, cause it will mess up the rest of your game. everything relies on the clock and if its messing up, you game will never be right, theres obvisouly somthing wrong with the clock programming, new computer or not.
