Is there any way to get those crops growing faster?
I mean, does it really matter if he waters them or not?
Do they grow any faster if they are watered or not?

They are on an automated timer, no matter how much your villagers water them, they will grow at the same rate, there is no way to make them grow faster then they allready are, and putting your village on a faster speed might have other consiquences if their low on food, just remember crops will only sustain 15 villagers, and thats pushing it.
