Listening to this convesation, I was starting to think, the village kids are actually quite well behaved. Yes, they do nothing for many years, but they also are very well potty trained, seem to take care of themselves foodwise, don't fight, entertain themselves....

I think they're very cute, what with the dancing, the chasing butterflies, their curiosity . . . I've found myself watching them a lot!

Right when my villagers ran out of berries but were tech'ed up enough to start planting is when the barrel arrived. Bad timing. So they're eating all the food and I'm like, biting my nails hoping that the farmers can grow/harvest enough to keep us in the food! They did though That was the only time I was like "darn kids!" Because they couldn't help with anything. Now they're grown up *sniff* - but little do they know they'll soon be making children of their own. Mwuahaha!!

Yes, I agree, the kids are cute. I liked watching them run all over exploring and they make funny noises when you pick 'em up.

At least they don't get mixed up in disasters that drain resources and the adults attention. I was prepared for them to drown, get pricked by cacti, and fall off rocks. They should start contributing to the village at a younger age though. Anyone who grew up on a farm will tell you that a farm child definitely starts some form of "labor" by the time they're 10, if not earlier.

Yes, I'm glad they don't get harmed because, well, that'd be kinda mean! On top of drawing away adult resources.

It would also be kind of nice to have them able to do some things at a young age - like farm/fish at age 8 or something. Maybe they could only do farm, not fish..at least it'd be something! And that is something children would do at an early age in real life. I can see them not doing breeding/construction/research...oh well. Now that I'm flush with adults the kids are okay by me!

I grew up on a farm, so I know about work at an early age! Maybe Arthur and team are city folks?
