you are correct. sorry, i didnt think to mention that. i tend to turn the game off while i'm away from home in case i have some sort of power surge. my computer really hates it when i'm in a game like that and that happens.

I gotta wonder if this is related to the way that some things seem to happen with the Options menu. It's been reported that if ya change stuff there, say the game speed, that it does not really take effect till you then hit "Play" on that village/tribe. Wonder if that is the case with pausing from the Options menu too?

One thing to try it to pause the game using the spacebar ... THEN quit.

I've tried these methods:

Options Menu -> Pause -> Quit

Options Menu -> Pause -> Play(To check it's paused) -> Quit

In game -> (Spacebar)Pause -> Close game(X button)

All the above methods still gives me (sometimes) Dead Aged Villagers/Totems/More Food/ Increased Tech...etc

The totems can appear anywhere depending on the final skill which has been Mastered but it always appear next to the villager whilst the game is still PAUSED. It's weird!! A non-moving villager with a Totem next to it!
