Babies are born with very nice clothes for free, which magically get bigger as they grow, and never wears out. It does not seem to make sense that a second outfit would be so expensive when there appears to be a never ending supply of free baby clothing that matches exactly the clothing you can buy (I've yet to see any naked children running around without clothing - hmmm, would that be called the "Michael Jackson" mod? \:\) )

However, whether clothing is cheap or expensive, there are going to be complaints. If clothing was cheap, the complaint would be "I have a million technology points and nothing left to spend them on."

I like the idea of being able to change a person's clothing. Perhaps another way to do it might be: Everyone is born with torn ragged clothing. $25 will buy off the shelf outfits; $50 for outfits to match occupations, such as a white coat and stethoscope to more clearly identify a doctor; and increasingly crazy prices for designer outfits to give people who have finished researching their technologies something to spend technology points on.

Along the same lines, a plastic surgeon could move into the hospital and for a fee, change your head graphics or your sex. And a psychiatrist could move in next door and for a fee, change your likes and dislikes.

Later in the game 5000 tech points will seem like pocket change.

They could do it the old way (and still sometimes done today): plop a chair under a coconut tree, and voila, instant barbershop! \:\)

Amee's right! Your villagers keep researching and gaining tech points and if you keep having your children pick up collectables you will have lots of tech points. So .... what do you do with them? Buy clothes!

I had my male builders in all the same outfit with the females in a matching color. I did the same for farmers, scientist, doctors and parents. When the person became a master and started to learn another function I would just change his/her outfit. Doing this made it easy to see who was goofing off.

When they became masters in three; they then were able to purchase a special outfit for Esteemed Elders Only.

I don't have the patience to dress all my villagers along the same lines as Margi, but I do dress my doctors all in white so they can be easily spotted in case of need. In a couple of my games I've also dressed Esteemed Elders in special clothes. They are allowed to goof off as much as they like.

FYI, I just timed my villagers, and they are earning an average of 2000 tech points a minute. I didn't force any villagers to research when timing them, many are relaxing by the lake, and doing laundry and other useless stuff.

But... how many villagers are assigned to research? What skill levels? What game speed?

It looked like about 20 at a time working on research. But the point was that later in the game 5000 points doesn't seem like much. I think they gave us the clothes as something to do with our tech points after all technologies have been completed. Otherwise, there would be no point in researching afterwards.

So true, but you know what I'd like to see as an incentive to continue having builders -- have the huts, dam, briars and vines on a timer. At a certain predetermined amount of time, the huts could start showing disrepair and if a villager or villagers don't start fixing them, they would fall apart only to need to be rebuilt.

The dam could need some mending as the wood used would become unstable; thus, needing attention.

The briars and vines would still grow and need to be thinned out from time to time like our gardens.

I did the same as Quickstorm - farmers dressed in green, builders in blue, researchers in grey, parents in yellow, doctors in red and elders in white. Made it heaps easier to keep track of who was doing what (and what they should have been doing - lol). But wish I could change what the kids and nursing mothers were wearing, sometimes I pick up a female wearing yellow, drop her on a male and she runs away 'cos she's too young! So guess the clothes thing doesn't always work!!

I just think 5000 is too much anyways! maybe 1000 would be a nice price so you can chance the clothes many times without rubbing your elbow!

I like the idea of having the vines grow as that would help develop the builders, fixing huts that are in good repair is slow work!

I thought the same thing. Fortunately, I haven't had any multiple births in VV2.
