I have a problem. There is a 32 years old lady in my tribe. Until she was 28 years old she wasn’t something very special but at least she was working (Master scientist, 70% of the building status bar). I was thinking that finally she would be able to become Esteemed Elder when suddenly she became absolutely lazy! Everyone who wants to: argue with somebody, praise, tell a joke, etc goes to her and this stupid girl stops working, and she’s waiting them.
Sometimes she leaves the hut she works on because she's waiting for someone! I drag her to the hut and people who want to speak to her go to the place she was waiting for them and they speak to the air! The last 4 years she didn’t gain her skills AT ALL! Is there a way to make her become working again?

It's not your villager's fault, and she is not lazy. The villager who is deemed to be the elder is 'chosen' by any villager who wants to argue, praise, tell a joke, etc., which will always interrupt anything that she was doing. This villager is usually the oldest, but not always, and is not to be confused with an Esteemed Elder, which is something completely different. That's how the game works.

Do I need to just sit and watch more to see this happen (with a villager selected)?

To an extent the villagers don't tend to stop to argue, praise and tell jokes until their life becomes fairly comfortable. When the food level gets relatively high and they no longer have to struggle just to survive they have time to have a gossip or an argument, much like real life.

Funny, mine don't do that with living villagers - but they spend a lot of time talking to the totems!

I have 115 villagers, 39 esteemed elders, but only this one is acting in that stupid way! She started behaving in that way when she was 28 years old. Now she’s 38 and she gained her skills only by 10%. At least she’s waiting the living villagers!!!!!

DaisyGR, was she your eldest villager? The oldest is usually the Village Elder (not to be confused with theEsteemed Elder), and that's what will happen as everyone consults her, seeks her out to tell jokes, whatever. When she dies, the oldest living villager will usually then be the alpha villager

Bajantara unfortunately she isn’t my oldest villager! I know very well that the oldest villager is acting like a "guru". Everyone goes to him. The same was happening and in VV1. This girl was only 28 when she became acting in that way (the oldest villager was 71 and esteemed elder). Now she’s 39 and the oldest villager is 74 (esteemed elder too). The oldest villager who isn’t esteemed elder is 70. Nobody goes to him. Everyone goes to Kai! She became the “crazy of the village”!!!!!
