Is anyone else frustrated by nursing mothers extending their maternity leave - sometimes by 15 minutes real time? Then, when they do finally let the poor swaddled infant go, they carry on washing baby, changing baby, like some demented earth mothers who simply can't bear to let go.

Yes, I´m a bit annoyed about that too. At 2x speed I think it should happen instantly or at least within 1 minute.

Try picking them up when they are still washing or changing. That is what I do. Of course I'm usually watching like a hawk waiting for the toddler to run off on his/her own.

Try exiting the game and then opening it back up, its cause your watching them ya know LOL Just exit the game wait a half minute and then open it back up and she should have dropped it. always works for me.

I hate the maternity leaves village moms take. I've seen where it takes an hour on x2 to move from 120 to 100 minutes. Grr.

Thanks for the tips. I wish there was something useful they could do during that long period of leave - like tell children stories or teach them. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate they are doing an important job, but does it really have to take so long? That's why I find it so frustrating when they go and extend it LOL

LOL - well to be honest I'm impressed at the toddlers' ability to survive on their own after age 2. Trust me - IRL - you don't get to walk off and forget which one is yours after 2 years!!!

An hour to have 20 minutes of nursing to pass? Sounds like a _bug_ to me. Think I'll do some testing to verify that.

Agreed, Carrie. Two years and however many extra minutes is a small investment in time compared to if the designers had decided to follow real life.

Feeling suitably chastised. IRL I never got to be a real mom, but thanks to the wonders of the modern family I got to be a grandmother, not the same thing of course but extremely satisfying nonetheless.

Yep, you can't forget about the kids at 2 IRL. In fact many will still be reliant on their parents after they've left college at 22.

I did a little testing on the length of the nursing periods at the three available speeds. Some interesting results:

First, if you look at the time remaining to nurse initially, it is always 2 villager years: 400 minutes at 1/2x, 240 minutes at normal speed and 120 minutes at 2x. This is as advertised.

Second, if you look at the time remaining at about 30 minute or so intervals, you'll see that it keeps track of time very well, decreasing by about the time elapsed since your last peek and always pretty close to what it should be considering the time of "conception/birth".

But the times remaining, although they are expressed in minutes, are not that accurate. It seems that they must be updated at some interval less frequent than once a minute. That may explain part of the next anomaly.

When the time remaining reaches zero, the nursing mother does not immediately release the child. Instead, there is a delay of about 5 minutes at 2x speed and 10 minutes at normal speed. I've not watched my 1/2 speed test village long enough yet to see what happens there, but I suspect that it will take a proportionately longer period for that release, which may coincide with the period of time between the updating of the time remaining.

In short, the time remaining for nursing is always inaccurate, but is fairly close. The delayed release of the two year old child may be caused by an improper order in the testing of this number. That is, it is only tested for zero before it is decreased. It should be tested afterwards.

This anomaly was also observed in VV1.
