Usually, when we set a villager to a task, like Researching, building, etc., he/she will stay at that (assuming he is trained and not TOO lazy) even if you quit the game and come back to it later... or if you switch from one Tribe to another.

One exception to that is the relatively short job of starting a fire. It seems that if a villager, let's say an adept scientist, is set to making a fire... any of the three tasks required for that... and then you switch to another tribe, the task you set him to do is not done and he/she is back to his ordinary duties, say researching.

Are there any other things that for sure the villagers will not continue with when you leave the village?

Jer

Incoming fire has the right of way.

The fire i know yes and collectable and mushrooms, the puzzle for the algea requires you sit on it they will not do that on their own, rining the gong, ahhh i think thats about it, and other then the _bug_ that the patch will cover *them not working at all lol* the rest is automatic, farming researching building and parenting. lots of relaxing things they do without you, lol.

Well, making a fire is a one-time task rather than a "career option" that you can set in a villager's skills preference on the details screen. It's more like bringing a collectible in (the grass, the wood) than building, researching, farming or parenting. And bringing collectibles is easily interrupted by switching tribes or quitting the game.

Making stews. It is painfully irritating to walk them through getting the water, then the food, then herb 1, then herb 2, then herb 3. All that for 20 minutes of time. At least the fire lasts 8 hours.

Well, with stews, you can have one guy get water, then another guy get the first herb, another one get the second, and another one get the 3rd, all at the same time. Then once the first guy brings back the water, send him off to get the food.
