I have the sewing hut built and I was wondering what the point of it is? It costs 5,000 tech points to buy an outfit (must be Versace) and I don't want to buy them if it's just for their own vanity. They can wear the coconuts they love to pick so much!

You will, eventually, get many villagers and then many tech points since there will be nothing left to buy - except clothes. Then you could change clothes to mark certain villagers, for example doctors, or just because you hate that particular outfit and can't stand it I would love, though, if you could buy a coconut dress for certain stupid villagers that won't listen...
