If you're increasing your population too much, there won't be enough food to support them. Until you get sustainable fishing, you really can't support more than 15-20 villagers.

Same thing happend to me. I had 2778 of food, 7 villagers, and 190 coconuts left.. I left game running on normal speed and after 2 hours there's no food, no coconuts, and 1 of my villagers is dead Something definitely seems amiss here. From what I have seen the villagers consume food at approximately 20 food units per villager per year. With that much food and only 7 villagers it should have lasted for quite a few village years (nearly 20) even if my calculations are a bit off. Worst case you were running at 2x speed. At that speed a village year is 60 minutes, so you should have been fine for almost a full day and night of people (computer) time. Maybe I need to redo my tests on villager food consumption. Has anyone done that? Jer 7 Days without pizza makes one weak...

i had 3 villagers and they only consumed 1 food for each one of them. at least that's what i counted. In what time period? At what game speed? Jer The theory of predestination was doomed from the start.

I had a game that did the same exact thing. I left my people for about an hour. And when I came back they were all dead. They starved to death. I had way too much food for 7 people, so they should have never died off. They may have been weakened but not dead. I didn't have that with my first game(still running)But this second game is keeping me from getting further than 5000 points. I do have a couple of other games going. But this one won't let my people live. They continue to starve. I have to pause the game anytime I need to leave the computer.

Has anyone been checking their game log to see what happened? Without the information in the log, these disasters will remain a mystery, since there is no way to know what might have gone wrong with the game.
