Are you worried about them living overnight? Or overnight and all day tomorrow? If so, you can pause the game until you have time to play again. Or you can put it on 1/2 time until morning, check on them then either leave them on 1/2 time or pause till you get home from work/school. That's not a lot of food for eight mouths, but they don't die instantly the moment the food runs out, either. Make sure you have a fire going and well stocked also. Otherwise they may get sick.
