This has happened to me a few times: the name of a villager will randomly change to that of the villager before or after them in the order. I just happen to notice it as I flip through the group in the details screen, one villager's name is now that of one of the villagers on other side of them in the order. I haven't noticed any corresponding event or issue to signal it happening.

I've noticed it at least 3 or 4 times now. Has anyone else encountered this?

There is an upcoming patch for the game. But I don't know if it will fix this problem. Besides, it doesen't effect game play!

yes, I have had it happen also, on more than one occasion. Annoying, but does not effect the game. I just name them something else and go on...:)

Just wondering, has anyone else gotten a certain event that changed the villager's name it affected to ? (question mark) -- I've gotten the same event twice with the name being changed to ? (question mark) both times. I can't remember at the moment what the event was. But it happened a couple weeks ago, two days in a row, same event, same weird name glitch thingy.

I have had several duplicate name changes. One of my villagers died with the name Micheal Ross, and Micheal Ross was a girl. And Micheal Ross was still alive. The name was either just behind him or infront of him that had the same name. I think it also duplicated the skills.
I started going through the names and righting the dupicated villagers.

The Island Event that causes the name to be changed to a ? is not a glitch. The villager falls out of a coconut tree and gets amnesia, so he can't remember his name (thus the '?').

That would be the "A Bump on the Head" event that causes one of your villagers to get amnesia - thus the name was changed to "?". If you bump him again, the villager either gets better at his skills or extremely dumb! Either way, the villager still can't remember his/her name.

I've had names flipped several times on my previos game (not this one yet). Once, seven people suddenly had the name of Karina! I now make it a point to keep a list in age order so I can switch them back.

Rayhne - there is a _bug_ in VV dating back to VV1 with the names. sometimes their names do change and its unknown why

Well, I feel silly now! That makes perfect sense now that I think about it.
