LOL at BecBoyles headless villagers, hillarious! Thanks for the tip about the totem, Lysbeth, that explains why some of my villagers go to the graveyard - but usually it's when I am not here. I come back and find them returning to their work like guilty little school children, caught in the act, but they never do it while I'm actively playing the game.

My second time through the game, and the strange behavior now is that all the villagers are behaving well! Knock on wood, no lazy people who refuse to learn. If I could only get some girls! Said in another post; 10 weemales no weefemales. Hoping for one of those vials to change gender! hehehe

Yes, 'dislikes' is far to weak a word to use in this sort of case. Perhaps 'phobias' would have been better?

I've just been watching an esteemed elder cooling his feet in the stream whilst carrying a bowl of water. I decided to see what would happen next. He then chose research (I uncheck their preference boxes as soon as they become elders, so they do what they like). He carried the bowl to the research table and hung onto it while conducting research. Then he went into the research hut and when he came out it had turned into a bowl of berries. So funny LOL

Have you ever noticed if it is their own idea they will do things they dislike? I had a villager who disliked turnips but would harvest crops as long as I didn't make him do it. I have also had ocean and fish haters that would fish and swim when they felt like it. The funniest to me is the one who dislikes fish and the ocean but likes swimming!

I now have a villager who I cannot change his clothes or get him to do any work. The females constantly keep coming to him.(He is not a parent or anything, nothing at all) He is constantly waiting for someone. And everytime I try to get him to do anything he goes back to waiting for someone. I wanted to change his clothes and he would go in,but turn right back around and wait for someone. This is a first for me. They always at least do something. He isn't even getting points for the women going to him. NOW THAT IS STRANGE!
