we should be able to speed up the game speed while you actually have it open like in stuff like sim city where you can if you want put it so high where people and buildings are whizzing up and down

watching villagers walk sloooowly from place to place is annoying

you can put it on 2x speed

the villagers move at the same pace, but their productivity per unit increases

most of us like watching our villagers grow up and grow old though

I kind of like watching my little ones grow up and become elders.

I actually wish they aged slower. I want my villagers around for longer!

I think they age, learn, and complete task for just the right amount of time. Just wish I could "mind control" the game when it came to those collectables!

This seems to be true in real life as well. Watching a parent or other loved one age and slow is difficult true, however, we want to keep them with us forever.

I like being able to speed up Sim City but I get too attached to my Elders in VV2 to want to speed through the years. I didn't get so attached in VV1 but I think the Elder status, where I can see just how hard they've worked, makes me rather fond of my little people.
