And changing the system clock on one's computer will mess with the gong timing, too.

And changing the system clock on one's computer will mess with the gong timing, too. I'm too fearful to play with the clock.. grin And I have successfully rang the gong and had it work as intended. Would it be a spoiler to reveal an indicator that the gong is ready to be rung? Thanks all for listening to me whine needlessly. CaliLilac

It seems to me like it takes longer than 24 hours also, but I could just be impatient. I was wondering though, my two villages that have the gong are kept on 1/2 time while I'm concentrating on my second to villages. Does that make a difference? And no, I have never messed with my computers clock. I have been panicking that I'll forget to pause my games this coming weekend and mess everything up due to the change to Daylight Savings Time. :-)

Normally DST isn't a problem for people, and you don't have to pause your games. You can see this post for a complete explanation.

Thanks LadyCFII. I had read that post, but I was tired and haven't been feeling well. For some reason, I thought all the villages also needed to be paused, not just that the game wasn't running. I only play in full screen mode so when I'm not playing, I quit. That's what you mean, right? Just don't leave the game open and running, correct? Thanks again for your help.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that I ring my gong every 12 hours. I say that because when I turn my game off at night by the afternoon I can ring it again. I have rang the gong quite a few times. I do have a problem though. Everyone else that rings the gong gets some kind of event either good or bad. I have yet to get any. One way or the other. I must have something wrong. But my games perfectly fine. Except my 2nd game. I can't pick up my beetles or butterflies. I have all my collectables in the 1st game and all my Tech points. I have 115 villagers, that is as high as I have been able to get.I have had a few minor details but nothing annoying. Except I would like to get something for the ringing of the gong.

You may be getting something and not seeing it. It doesn't come as a popup, you have to watch the bottom line on your screen to see what effect the gong has.
I thought I wasn't getting anything wither until I noticed that, it can disappear very quickly if, for some reason, a villager doesn't respond to the ringing, but eats or learns something.

You can also see if the event is a good one or a bad one by looking at the smoke given off when the gong is rung. Green smoke is bad; rainbow is good, just like the stews.

Yes, Simsane - you need only Quit the game. Pausing is not necessary.
