How many different totems are available? I have about seven different types (not including the first one you get to complete the puzzle)so far.

I was wondering do they have anything to do with the order of skills used to help the villager become an Elder? Does it matter which of the three skills are used to help the villager become an Elder?

there are 8 different totems available. I believe they are random and not connected to which skill they mastered in. And no, it does not matter which three skills they master in as long as they master at least three of them.
