I reached 50 Elders today (woohoo!) but my number has stuck there. Shortly afterward, another Villager reached Masters in 3 things - farming, research & doctor - but she won't convert over to an Elder.
I thought maybe there was a limit but I see the leaderboard has lots of players with 51 Elders.
Help!

Hmmm... have another Villager in the same position now. 3 Masters, no Elder status.

I have several guys that have 3 Masters, but no more elder status is appearing... I am also at 50 elders. Sad! These poor villagers have worked so hard and should have earned a totem! Although I was beginning to wonder where I would stack the totems... Also, all my Elders wear pure white - it was pretty fun making them "special" !! The main point of my game was producing more Elders. Anyone have over 50 Elders yet?

awww not just me, sorry GreenDawg. I thought maybe my game had a glitch because I see the Top 25 on the leaderboard have more than 50 Elders.

Cool idea about dressing them in white! Maybe I'll do something special for my multi-master non-Elders.

Thanks, Danfan, I'll look at the leaderboards to see who has more than 50 elders. I'd like to hear from the VV2 designers to see if this is indeed a glitch or if there is a cutoff on the number of elders we have.

50 is the max amount possible, but there is a way to get 1 more after that, but I've still only heard rumors about it.

The limit is 50 Elders/Totems. You can legitimately go slightly above that with certain Island Events.

Thanks much for the info. A shame to have gotten the 50 already, I really enjoyed training them and earning those cool totems. I am really pleased they at least can keep getting Tech points and buying clothes, etc. A real improvement over VV 1 which I also loved.

how does everybody get 50 totems? ihave soleved all the puzzles and only have 4. Do you just sit there all day and drop you villager on the skill he/she needs? maybe all my villagers are slow learners. lol

Shoot, just shouted about this same thing! I also have all my esteemed elders dressed in white, and I then retire them by unclicking any favorites, or putting the men on parenting detail. This way, I can see at a glance who needs to stop slacking off! I have about 17 villagers very close to elder status, but have reached my 50 with 1 who did not advance. I was looking forward to all the totems, I've been having fun with them.

I agree Daisey. I just commented on the Leaderboard thread. I was planning to decorate my whole island with totems. That was the only thing keeping me playing now because, apart from 2 collectibles, I have finished everything else.

Tazcat, since finishing the puzzles I only play about an hour a day - half hour in the morning & again before I finish work in the evening. I give each villager a task & then turn the game off but leave it on 2x speed. Then when I turn it on again, I find any that have reached Master status on what they are doing & switch them to a new task. I just keep working/ clicking them til they reach Trainee status & then leave them be til they reach Master in that & switch them to something else again.

My 50 elders have finally all died off. My Village People have nothing to live for, no goals to reach... except some new clothes now and then...

Okay, this is tongue-in-cheek, obviously. I'm madly addicted to VV, and will be playing it, (like another member said earlier) when we are on version 200. Thank you, LDW, for creating this wonderful game for us. Next game, let us have countless elders. That is one of my major enjoyments, getting someone to earn Elder status before they died.

It may take time - it depends on how you play. If you like to be active and force them forward it will go faster. Some villagers are more prone to becoming and elder. They work harder and don't spend too much time in the pond or whatever leisure they have. Keep an eye on those and switch them to a new task whenever they get master in a specific area. The runners are a big advantage: Put them in tasks like farming and building in their youth and then maybe science or parenting. Some villagers just seem to hate a specific skill, for example science. They will then try to do something else as soon as you look elsewhere. It really tests your patience.

Two more who dress their Elders all in white! I've maxed mine out too, but I still dress any villagers with three or more Master skills in white because even though they can't get a totem or have the title of Esteemed Elder they've still got all the skills.

Once I realised how to get Elders fast I ended up with TWELVE Elders running round the village at the same time!

Hint: Just about ALL of the villagers will work at three of the skill sets on their own - with great enthusiasm - but only a very few will do either of the two others without you forcing them to get down to it all the time.

Wow, okay, I didn't even THINK of that - going ahead and dressing my Elders in white even though they no longer say "elder" status or get a totem. D'oh! This will let the game continue to be a challenge to reach Elder Status... Also, when I had someone reach "Elder" status I put ELDER behind their name so that at a glance (in addition to their white garb) they could be instantly recognized as an Elder.

I've dressed my non-elder elders in white also. Last night, it seemed there were more adults walking around in white that anything else.

Well phooey limiting elders. I wondered why one didn't get it yesterday, then today 3 more that should be aren't. Oh well will just have to move on like everyone else and at least still change their clothes. My males are in white, my female are in the maroon to complement them, and because less of my females were starting off in that color.

thanks for answering. I thought I had a glitch too. They should have raised to since you can have 90 people you should be able to have more elders. But you do run out of room to put the totem. They should have made Isola bigger. I think for the next game they should have it bigger so you can build more home too. 3 houses isnt enough for 90 people.

I have changed eveyones clothes.. 1. The esteemed elders are in White 2. Farmming are in Green 3. Sicence/research White & Black
4. Builders in Brown.. the ones care for children and the children you can not change clothes..I found this was easyer to see who was to do what also as they become masters I change thier color of clothes to what is need..haveing a lot of fun..
I would like to know how to get them to live longer than 78years.

I guess I can understand the need to cap the number of totems, but I still think that elders should get the title. And what if, when the elder died, the totem disappeared, or was somehow incorporated into the headstone? That way, you could feasibly continue to get a totem for new elders without seriously overcrowding your village.

I noticed that some people had more than 50 elders.How did they do that? I have 50 elders and three that should be elders but they didn't get the title.

Apparently, there is a village event that let's you get an extra Elder. That makes 51 - but I don't know how people on the leaderboard have 52 & 53.

The same Island Event can happen more than once in a game.

I've been dressing my elders in white as soon as I had all my skills and everything possible.
I found that once the village is built it is rather hard to master building.
I put my villagers there first while there was something to build and then knowing that farming and parenting and medical was always available I kept them at that.
It is total patience. And being on the game quite often. Which I'm sure some mothers have a problem with.lol

I think it is fairly easy to get master builders once everything is complete.(of course, now that I don't need them!)
Here are all my master builders as of now and there are several more just about there.

I dress my elders a bit differently. Because my doctors are all dressed in white, I chose black for the male elders and red for the female elders.

I think I'll go ahead and give them new clothes once they achieve Master status in three skills, even if they don't get the title and the totum.

I asked this somewhere else but never received a reply. I made my 5th Elder and didn't get a totem. Why? Is there a way to retrieve her totem from wherever it is? I didn't want to go back a few days, play with the date whatever, and then just lose everything. How can I get the totem I earned to show?

Are all of you looking at that darn leaderboard. There are quite a few with over 150 elders. How do you suppose they got them?

If the odds of getting the event that can give you over 50 elders is so rare then I want to know what the statistical probability of getting 70 -150 elders!!!!!!!

Those people cheated - there is no other way to get that many.

I think it would be nice that even though we can get only 50 totems that the additional ones would at least count as elders. The folks on the leaderboards will be the only ones who get there. It doesn't seem quite fair. Once you hit 50 there is no reason to keep them learning new skills. It is easy to loose interest in the game. The challenge is gone.
