I find that when crops are up and the farmers should be harvesting crops they keep running over to the coconut trees. No matter how many times I drag them back to the farm they go back to the trees when I quit looking. So as a result they pick all the coconuts and then when the crops are gone the tribe goes hungry because they have no coconuts on the trees.

If they picked the crops first the coconuts would last longer. they could pick them while waiting for time for the new crop instead of making everyone be hungry.

I know what you mean. They do the same for me.

There is a patch coming that addresses the farmer's odd behavior. Should be ready in a week or two, whenever the beta testers are done testing it.

I mean right after I buy level two farming,the farmer alway get coconut from tree,not fishing in the ocean even thought fish is unlimited and coconut is not

This happens to me too, but my guess is that the coconuts are worth more in food once placed in the food bin. Take a look at your food count when they place fish, crops and coconuts in there.

fish put the most food in your bin. if you play normal mode, fish put 11 food in your bin and coconuts put 4 food.

and the coconuts just happen to harvest ...all 30 just as the crops appear ...
I have a long list of grrrr's like, why is my adept farmer researching when peeps need food?
how can 4 kids all sitting together all feel a bit lonely?
How can I get Master builders inbetween puzzles and when all puzzles are done?
why does my adept Parent always pick the guys I am trying to make masters? (and not the bone idle Doctors) ...

I totally agree. The farmers at least in vv1 fished more often than farmed. This time they pick coconuts and don't even think of fishing.
But on top of that. When I try to see how many coconuts are there to harvest,one mimute it will say 30 and when 2 pickers pick, when they are finished with those 2 there aren't any coconuts left to pick. Why is that?

This is why I do not buy level 2 farming early on. My villagers exist mainly on mushrooms (yes you can find enough) until the crops start to grow. Then I turn them all temporarily into farmers and sit on them until they have all the crops in.
In fact, in my most recent game the kids found enough mushrooms to feed the tribe and enough collectibles to buy level 2 engineering all on their own (with a little help from me of course).

Here is what I have observed about food values, all in Easy mode. They vary depending on speed selected:

Coconuts - 2 at 1/2x, 4 at normal, 8 at 2x
Veggie - not observed at 1/2x, 7 at normal and 10 at 2x
Fish - 5 at 1/2x, 8 at normal, 11 at 2x
Brown Mushrooms are worth 6 at any speed.
Red Mushrooms are worth 35 at any speed.
Crabs are worth 55 at 2x and normal, not observed at 1/2x.

Anyone else see different vaules?

I believe how much a villager harvests also depends on whether they are trainee, adept or master.

That is not what I have observed. I just tracked a Master Farmer, an Adept Farmer and an Untrained villager delivering a fish to the food bin at 2x speed. Each caused an increase of 11 in food.

My villagers get 11 points for thier fish and it depends I guess on how long they pick coconuts. Because sometimes I get 4 and sometimes I get 2,in 2x mode. My veggies I seem to get 7 but like I said I don't think it is constant,because if you check your points after they pick awhile the points aren't as high.

I need to rename my island...to Idjit Island! My farmers are uselss, I think they cant swim..they refuse to fish and isntead insist on watering crops (maybe they are attempting to create rice patties)..when the crops come in.....they go fishing...its a constant battle to keep them from starving. Two villagers, the woman much older than the man wouldnt keep away from each other long enough to learn their tasks...so as she was very near a master parent anyway...i would let them embrace, get the message that her parenting skills improved, then yank her tail back to the task I assigned her. Once she was a master at parenting, he decided she was too old and no longer interested. That took care of that lil problem. Now they are both nearly masters at their own tasks.....not farmers of course...the idjits..sigh

That variation is because the villagers "eat". That is, they consume food, even if no notice is given that they are doing so. So, the maximum food values do not always show up as increases in food values if a consumption takes place at the same time. You must watch to see how much the MAXIMUM increase for a certain food harvest affects the food remaining. That is the real value of a certain food.
