We had a power outage that lasted for 36 hours and I had my games on 2x speed when it went out. My main village went down from 95 to 42! All but 4 of the females were over 50 so it will take some time to repopulate, and my newer village where I had just succeeded in getting the gong piece from the crate was dead. ("weeping loudly") Why does it have to snow like this.
Hmmm... wonder if I can get a portable generator just for my computer?

I have just started on VV2 Lost Children - it's great, but just as I am training people up finding out who is doing what this green sludge appears in the sea and they won't fish! Can anyone tell me where these green sludge eating fish are?
Help!!!

I wonder if you could have set your computer time back before you started the game up. That obviously won't help you now, but perhaps if it happens again you could turn back time 24 hours or so before starting the game?

Thats a game puzzle! I won't put any details in the thread, but you can see some general hints and some very specific details on how to solve the puzzles here: http://www.virtualvillagers.com/strategyguides/thelostchildren/index.html

Sounds like a plan, but will time traveling backwards mess up your game like going forward will?

Anaksuel, I am so sorry. What can I say? I know how much energy we VV-fans put into our tribes. It becomes almost as family.

I have a laptop and I have come to really appreciate it when there is a power outage. Maybe that would be a solution for you in the future. Or you could have your game saved in an extra external disk just in case something might happen. But this won't mend what's happened though.

I have another recomendation. When I went to get a surge protector last I found they now have ones with back-up batteries in them that can be used as a power source in just that sort of situation.

While battery backups are good and useful, you need to be careful with them. Don't plug in a laser printer. Don't plug in a big CRT monitor. If you have an LCD display, you're probably in good shape. Talk to a salesperson if you can find one who knows the stuff. The real point of a UPS is to let you shut your equipment down gracefully (which can include pausing your games).
