Ok so... I was doing fine until an island event wiped out my food bin, so now I'm fighting my way through the whole "they're starving and they refuse to fish" issue... and I know ya'll can identify with the frustration of watching 16 adults ferry water to a field that isn't going to bloom for 300 minutes, while the food bin stands all but empty and the ocean is just there for the fishing.

But that's not what I wanted to mention.

I was curious if anyone else has run into an issue with a looney villager?

See... I have this one villager who was very VERY stubborn. He refused to learn to be a doctor, a builder, or a scientist. The only thing he would learn to do was farm. Ok fine. Except that he hates turnips. He hates turnips SO much that, when the field is in bloom and needing harvesting he RUNS in the opposite direction anytime he gets within sight of the field. Won't go near it. Not even to enjoy the pond or examine the ruins. He'll start to go do that, then see the garden and WOOOSH! Off he goes, running for the ocean like his pants are on fire.

Maybe there should be a separate part for phobias as well as likes and dislikes \:\)

This post is very funny, \:D Cant say I've noticed any of my little villagers behaving in such a fashion.

I have a farmer who dislikes fish. He was perfectly OK until I got rid of the algae. Now that he has the option to fish, that seems to scare him. Every now and then he'll have a panic attack and run off; presumably when he's decided to go fishing then remembered that he hates fish!

One of my villagers is a farmer, but he will not fish at all. You put him in the ocean and he runs away. I didn't know why he was doing this until I checked his dislikes and he doesn't like swimming. LOL

Goes to show how the clever developers have added these little nuances to the game to make it more interesting \:\)

I have two that are displaying that type of behavior. I have almost given up and am letting them wander around, eating our food, doing their own little thing. Guess this game is more like real life than we realized!

I dress my villagers in different clothes so I can tell what their skills are (Elders of both sexes are in white). I found a couple of villagers (one male and one female) who disliked fish and swimming so I made sure they were the only ones in a particular outfit (yellow with red spots for the female and a green skirt for the male) and then I could see them in the crowd and not select them to go fishing.

DIanthus I do the same thing - elders of both sexes in white, farmers in green - builders in blue - researchers in red - parents in purples and healers in brown (it seemed earthy) it made all the difference for me in trying to get my villagers to stay on task. It's a great way to keep it in order!

Liatha - I'm not sure but 300 minutes is a long time for any crop unless you've been time travelling. I know when we had our event that wiped our food we moved all our people to farming and it helped. Good luck!
