Hi, it happened just after the villagers discovered the algae eating fish and everybody started fishing. Suddenly there were two of the very same character. I suppose I could log out and see if they are still there when I return. I'll keep you posted.

I've just logged out and gone back in again - and they are still there - extraordinary. I think I'll go to bed now and see if they are still there in the morning \:\)

Don't you pause your game when you go to bed?

Maybe you had twins and didnt notice, the profiles of twins are exactly the same, and maybe a small blip glitch just game them the same name, usually with twins the names are very similar anyways, right now i got triplets and their names are, Popo, Popokie, and Popek. and twins names Mofo and Momo, there are others, ive had quite a few, to many to name or remember. Check your stats page and see if you had twins, of course if youve had several sets of twins you may not be able to tell, but if you are certain you havent had twins yet and they are but you missed it, then itll show there.

If it happens again, save the log file and send to LadyCFII or Arthur

Try to catch it in the log file now! As long as you've logged out of the game, you may be able to still catch it before you log back in again. Go into My Documents => LDW => Virtual Villagers 2 - The lost Children, to find the log file (.txt)

That mofo name is funny... \:D

I had the same thing happen only it was an island event where something popped up and it said to say one of two things.. seminus or geminus.. something like that and i said geminus and i had 2 of the same people. But i seem to be finding that this "clone" is getting sick alot..

I would guess that's probably what happened to the original poster, then. Treen probably opened the game and didn't notice the event?

Thanks everyone. I recall now that it was precipitated by an event (cannot recall what that event was) but my villager made the mundane choice.

Terina, no it's not twins, I re-name most of my characters, otherwise they sound like soya based food products.

Liasophia, I don't pause my game unless I am going to be afk for a couple of days. I usually have 3 or 4 tribes going at once, so I stoke up the fires, ensure there are enough villagers gathering food, take the opportunity to do a bit of parenting so I don't have to watch the moms swanning around watching everyone else work for four hours, and off I go.

Does anyone else get frustrated by the way moms extend their maternity leave? The profile is showing '0' mins left and they sometimes hold onto that child for up to 15 mins. Infuriating! Also, have you noticed how much easier it is for males to accumulate master status and become elders? If a female has more than one child, she has to work flat out way into her elder years and then she goes and dies just before she gets her totem!!

Treen,
That last thought has been bought up a few times \:\) It is unfair but I guess quite realistic.

It's kind of sad that it reflects real life in a way. Woman who have student loans can take up to twice as long as men (if not more) to pay them back if they wish to have children.
Not to mention all the issues with the work place and having children that some woman still have to face in some countries or areas.

BUT I do think it would be realistic if they could still do something like farming (as many nursing mothers have done for thousands of years) or maybe research, there is no reason why they couldn't study texts or study that bowl of berries.

Building could be deemed as too dangerous obviously and same with healing as you wouldn't want to expose the child to that cold \:D

I also think that woman should earm MORE (I know they earn a little) parenting skills during those two years.

I just had the same thing with "Leiko" same figure, same clothes, same names, only one is 31 and the other is 36.

Strange.

Hi my mom had me 48 hours after her last shift at work. She was also supporting my father through university.
This was in 1956 and also while she was attaining her teacher qualification in physiotherapy!!
When she was 4 months pregnant with me she 'climbed Hellvellen (highest tor in the lake district) swam Lake Coniston from end to end, then climbed Sca Fell Pike in 24 hours!'

No wonder I like climbing, walking and swimming!!!!!!!

I love my parents dearly and wish I could tell them both that.
I tell my mother often (maybe not often enoough)
So it is possible that women can do more in virtual villagers than they are doing at present!!!!
I.E. working when pregnat or nursing - my mother also brought up my (younger) brothers while still doing 2 days a week at work. (OK not full time but more that most parents work these days)
