Try the version from Big Fish games. First remove your version completely, and delete the folder "Virtual Villagers - The Lost Children" from Program Files, and delete the LDW folder from My Documents.

Let us know if that version works for you.

No, you won't have to repurchase the game. We'll let you know what you need to do. \:\)

Okay...I'm getting too aggravated here. I completly erased the first game and downloaded from Big fish. It has a pop-up when installing that it can't install the exe file, and asks to retry or ignore. I hit ignore and of course it doesn't download the exe file. So, now I have paid for both games and have none that work...

Okay...I don't get this. When I go into program files, there is still a Virtual Village file with a bunch of command files. I can erase all but two of the files. One of the files is fmod.dll, which is one of the files that it won't let me download, along with the exe. file. When I try to delete these two files, it says I need permission. So, I think these are the files from the LDW download, and that's why they won't download from the BFG version. Does that make sense? So, how can I delete these two files so I can try to download from BFG again?

Are you doing this from an admin account or a limited user account?

I don't know. I did activate my version of Vista, so I imagine I have full access. How can I tell?

The type of user account is not related to whether or not you have activated Vista. There are two types of user accounts on Vista, Administrator and Standard User. Only Administrator accounts can install programs. You can tell what kind of account you have by going to the Control Panel and selecting User Accounts and Family Safety and then User Accounts. You should see your account type on the right side of the window under the account name.
