i had one little guy who kept running away...from nothing. the only thing he disliked was the ocean, and he was nowhere near the ocean at the time. he was standing near the rocks by the pond and just suddenly started running. i clicked on him and the action said "running away." he got to the coconut trees, stopped for a second, then started running away again. maybe he was running from an invisible boogeyman. or maybe he saw the ghost of one of the dead villagers.

i also have one villager who keeps doing things like telling a joke, arguing, and complaining. the only thing is that he always does these things to the little lavender flower at the top of the graveyard. no other villagers in sight. it's funny to watch him "argue" with a flower. maybe he's interacting with the same ghost that my other villager was running away from. silly little villagers. lol!

Awwwww that is cute. It would be a cool island event to have ghosts.

Is the villager a doctor? If so, that's a coding quirk that was present in VV1 - where you would see in the status bar, the next action the doctor would perform after studying the cactus... in the case of VV2 it would be one of the plants

i remember that from VV1. actually this has happened with more than one villager, and none of them were studying plants at the time. they stand in the middle of the village, then they start walking towards the flower while the status bar says the action. they never studied the plant at all.

are you sure that you aren't yelling at your villagers? they might be hearing the voice of "god" and running to hide.

I thought the cactus in VV1 was a hallucinogen and they were imagining that they were doing something else while they were studying it!

Does your villager like playing? Playful villagers enjoy being jumpy and run away from things for no apparent reason.

I have a villager who dislikes fish. So obviously he runs away from the ocean - however, sometimes I see him running away for no apparent reason.

If he's a farmer, when hr finishes a task he'll stop and think about what to do next. He probably decides to go fishing, then remembers he dislikes fish.

I have a few who run away for no apparent reason, some are farmers which have been planting or harvesting. They always run up to the coconut trees, stop then turn and walk to the pond or get something to eat. Strange little villagers????

No i always check to see if they are. I only have one male runner at the moment & that was through an event after i noticed my female farmer running away every so often. I've recently noticed several other villagers doing the same thing now.

I have had that to. I dont know why they all of a sudden run away. some of the ones that i have that do that dont have anything in their likes/ dislikes section. Also, when they argue, or chat, or tell storys, its always to the totems and not with other villiagers like in VV1.

One of my elderly villagers walked all the way to the mosaic to "argue" and then I moved her back to the research table, but then she promptly died. Her last living act was to argue, seemingly with the gods or with the totems of the deceased elders.
